EXAMPLE 3 :Determine the moment of the force about point O..
SOLUTION :

𝑀𝑂1 = 𝐹 𝑑 = (400 sin 30 ) ∗ 0.2 = 40 𝑁. 𝑚 ↺

𝑀𝑂2 = 𝐹 𝑑 = (400 cos 30 ) ∗ 0.4 = 138 𝑁. 𝑚 ↻

𝑀𝑂 = 𝑀𝑂2 - 𝑀𝑂1
= 138 − 40 = 98.56 ↻

EXAMPLE 3 :A 30-lb force acts on the end of the 3-ft lever as shown. Determine the moment of the force about O
SOLUTION :

𝑄 = 30 sin 20 = 10.26 𝑁
