In the at slab, the columns strips are the section that are center aligned with column and has the width equal to 1/4th of the Chegg Stu
shorter span on each side.

In designing of slab, all the design moments are averaged along the column strips and center strips.  Answe

Here, the term lx is short span length.

The middle strip is placed among two column strips, so that the width of center strips is equal to . Here, the term ly is
longest length of the span of the slab.

In case of excess strip width, the average moments and the shear will expand over larger areas of slab. If the strip is too small, the
design will become over conservative in nature.

There are three methods for design the at slabs as given below.

Finite Element Analysis,

Equivalent Frame method and

Simpli ed method

The negative moment division will be 75 percent in column strip and 25 percent in center strip. The positive moment division will
have 55 percent in column strip and 45 percent in center strip.
