A Case Study

Questions:

1. How important would benefits like those offered by Whole Foods be to you if you
were working there to put yourself through school or to collect a paycheck while
looking for a position in your chosen field?

 The benefits given by the company Whole Foods to their employees makes
them earn the top spot in Fortune’s magazine “100 companies to work for” If
ever, I was an employee of Whole Foods and also I am a student which
studies for a major or has a degree which is not related to the work I have
and receives tons of rewards, benefits, or my paycheck. Benefits are
important because not only it helps in our daily life and as a source of income
to pay bills, this will be a motivation that working for my dream career will
always start at the bottom. Then, this will serve as a motivation to eagerly and
fruitfully work with passion.

2. What negative elements do you see in Whole Foods approach to pay and
benefits?

 In my perspective, the negative elements I see on the approach of Whole

Foods that gives rewards and benefits, First, This might make their
employees lazy because they will have a mindset that the company that they
worked in will surely give them rewards and benefit. Therefore, They will not
do their jobs properly. Another will be, they will not show eagerness and drive
in working because they believe that the company will give them their benefit.
Next, an employee can recruit their friends and family to work because they
will assure they will receive a benefit and that will be nepotism which is bad
for the company’s stability.

3. Why don't more companies use the approach to employee health care pioneered
by Whole Foods?
 Most companies do not use Whole Foods approach to employee health care
pioneered because health is not consistent, I mean accidents my occur but it
would not be forecasted. Therefore, investing in health will not be effective
since we are not sure about our health. In some cases, employees tend to
abuse than used efficiently the benefit they receive because they know that
the company will pay for the medical services offered which is not good for
the company’s stability. Another, in some other cases, if an employee will
have severe health problems they might exceed the company’s limit in
offering health care and it will be unfair.
