Settings for MiCOM P343

1 Generator Differential Protection (87G)

This protection is provided to protect the generator against phase

to phase faults in generator.
The basic differential current setting defines the pickup setting of
differential protection for internal faults. The lowest possible value
should be chosen to enable it to detect the worst case faults.

Hence , Recommended settings are

Is1 50 mA
K1 0 %
Is2 1 A
K2 120 %

Action : To Trip 86A1 & 86A2

2 Stator E/F protection (0-95%)(64S)

This protection is provided to protect the generator against earth faults in

generator. This protection is based on residual over voltage or neutral voltage
displacement
Settings:
VN>3 Status Enabled
VN>3 Input VN1
VN>3 Function DT
VN>3 Voltage Set 7V
VN>3 Time Delay 0.5 Sec
VN>3 tRESET 0 Sec

VN>3 Uses measured neutral voltage from Vneutral/VN1 input.

Action : To Trip 86A1 & 86A2

3 Stator E/F protection (100%) (64G2 or 27TN)

This protection is provided to protect the generator against earth faults near to
generator neutral point. This protection is based on 3rd Harmonic voltage
measurement at the neutral point of generator.
Settings:
VN 3rd Harmonic VN3H< Enabled
100% ST. EF VN3H< 0.5 V
