Challenge we have been facing while I perform my work task

It is known that one of the main interesting and needed point of the internship program is to see
the different challenges that any professional may face during his work. When we say we did this
and that, it does not mean that all things are smooth during our work, as any professional
encountered different challenges. The following are some of them.
Personal challenge

 For the first one week it is necessary to spend most of the time on the field out on the
scorching sun to make sure to learn each and every work activities carried out on the site and
check it’s done according to what they are provided with and it was difficult for us to relate
the theoretical concepts to the practical one.
 It had been a major challenge for us to communicate with the workers, Formans, carpenters,
masons & site engineer, because the words they use on the site are new, and which are totally
confusing and hard to memorize in the first few weeks of the internship period.
 Lack of construction safety wears i.e. safety shoes, helmet, and gloves….etc.

Site challenge

 When they cast column concrete segregation is happen because of miss skilled operation of
the vibrator of the concrete.
 Problems while performing the task such as instability of soil during excavation.

Measures to overcome the challenges

 We have raised some questions to site and office engineer in order to relate the theoretical
concepts to practical ones, finally we got some hints from them.
 To know the working language and to communicate with skilled manpower easily we tried to
collect such words and note down on my notebook, and we say those words reputedly when
we communicate with those skilled manpower.
 To avoid the air voids and the segregation that resulted from not vibrating the concrete well, Careful
handling, placing, and Uniform vibration of concrete and cover the poor concrete finishes of the
column with mortar ( cement + fine sand+ water).
 To avoid risk of stepping on nails and other sharp materials I use to be careful while moving
in construction site.
 On our project site the foundation work was to be constructed by a method of bulk
excavation. But on areas where the soil is not stable and if the excavated bulk wall is
triggered for potential slide, it is difficult to construct the footing in such hazard conditions.
This was the major problem during the foundation stage of our project site. Therefore to
overcome this problem they use supporting system that means bracing the bulk wall and
covering the top part of bulk wall to avoid temperature effect.
