Capacities may be based on percent of tipping, strength of
structural components, operating speeds and other factors.
However, capacities listed to the right do not exceed 75%
of a static load required to tip machine with boom across
crawlers on firm, level ground. Weight of bucket i~ considered
part of load. Ratings indicated by " ~ " represent boom posi-
tions which, without load, provide less than standard back-
ward stability. Weight of the load block, hook, weight ball,
LIFTING slings, etc. is considered part of the load. Machine is to be
equipped with 24' O" extendible width crawlers, 48" treads,
CAPACiTiES 16' retractable gantry, 10 part boom hoist rigging, 11/2"
pendants, and 73,000 lb. counterweight.

TOWER CAP: Provides hinge point for boom carrier and

is mounted on top of tower.

BOOM CARRIER: The boom carrier becomes part of the

tower cap when assembled. The function of the boom
carrier is to place the boom butt at the center of the tower
cap, when the boom is in working position, for more even
distribution of the load to the tower. When the boom
reaches working position, the boom butt moves into a
lock arrangement with the tower cap and holds the boom
and boom carrier in place.
One 8" diameter x 1 9 % " wide, bushed, wire rope roller
guide is provided in the boom carrier to prevent fouling of
the hoist line when the boom is folded to the front of
the tower.

STRUTS: A group of three struts are employed with the

tower cap to hold the boom in working position. Boom
struts are 19' 11/~", 20' O" and 17' O" long.

TOWER PENDANT RIGGING: Pendant rigging between

equalizer and struts. Basic pendant provides for
164' tower. For other tower heights consult factory
representative.

EQUALIZER: Equalizer assembly for lO-part boom hoist

reeving, with anti-friction bearing sheaves.
MODEL 3 9 0 0 W TOWER L I F T C R A N E

The No. 9 Tower consists of tower sections with inverted
