A Picnic to Putuo Mountain

In June 2014 I had three days holidays. So I decided to go for a picnic to Putuo Mountain. The mountain is
located in a small island. It is an extremely beautiful island. I was deeply impressed by the maintenance, cleanliness
and sheer beauty of the place. But it is accessible by ferry only.

Beside a popular tourist spot, Mount Putuo is the most revered Buddhist Mountain in China. The main
temple was located on top of the hill like in India. It could be accessed by cable car or paved road or by 1001 steps. I
saw people going up the stairs, silently whispering prayers and also as in India I found people crawling. Since
Buddhism has its roots in Hinduism, I can see many forms similar in shape to some Hindu God and Goddesses.

A hundred and fifty Yuan is the ticket for entering the island itself. Surprisingly entry to all the temples in
China is by ticket. I don’t see any beggars on the roads leading to the temples. There are no roadside vendors and no
littering. Toilets are available all along the roads leading to the temples.

There’s a place in your heart

And I know that it is love
And this place could be much brighter than tomorrow

And if you really try

There’s no need to cry
In this place you’ll feel there’s no hurt or sorrow

There are ways to get there

If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place

Heal the world

Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

If you want to know why

There’s a love that cannot lie
Love is strong, it only cares for joyful giving

If we try we shall see

In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear or dead, we stop existing and start living

Then it feels that always

Love’s enough for us growing
Make a better world, make a better world

Heal the world

Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race

There are people dying

If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

And the dream we would conceived in

Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify its soul
Though it’s plain to see, this world is heavenly be God’s glow
