This drill will be conducted simultaneously in selected schools, establishments, goverment and non-government offices in other parts of the country which have volunteered to participate. The local launch will be coordinated by the Office of Civil Defense Regional Offices. Said activity is part of the continuing implementation of the NORRMC’s Four Point Plan of Action on Disaster Preparedness particularly on public information, education and communication as well as preparedness for response. The Nationwide Earthquake Drill is being conducted quarterly since 2006. The general objectives of the drill are to test the preparedness in responding to a strong earthquake and to assess the evacuation and response plan of the various offices and establishments participating in this drill. The highlight of the activity is the showcase of capacities of the following: * CGEA Station Hospital CGEA Fire Station Philippine Air Force Fire and Air Response National Development Support Command (NADESCOM) Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue Team ‘Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Command Center National Capital Region Command NDRRMC Emergency Operations Center Bureau of Fire Protection HAZMAT Team Furthermore, the AFP and selected Local Government Units and volunteer groups in Metro Manila will display their different response equipment and tools for appreciation of the audience.
