Clinical Data Category (CDC)
The Clinical Data Category feature can be used to provide end users with information or to collect
information from end users. Some medications require you to respond to a CDC before proceeding
because your facility has determined that you are required to review or provide information during
the transaction.

A CDC message may appear when you select a medication to remove, return, waste, or
override. This example is a remove. During the transaction, a CDC will display. Review and
respond to the CDC.

Note: When wasting a medication upon removal, the system will display the CDC configured for the Waste
transaction after the Remove transaction is completed and before the Waste transaction begins.

Select Accept to confirm your response.

Note: If the Skip option is configured for your facility and you choose to skip a CDC, the system will
provide a warning.

Some CDCs may provide or require additional information as seen below. Be sure to pay
attention to system warnings. They are intended to increase patient safety.
