01 Problem
Introduction
● Global electricity consumption is
exponentially increasing (IEA, 2020).
● PALECO is not able to provide sufficient
electrical load for every household in Palawan
(PALECO, 2021).
● There are 3.2 billion smartphone users
worldwide (Helman, 2013).
Background
Status quo
● Smartphones have limited battery capacity.
● Smartphones are crucial to modern activities
such as online learning and home office work.
● To address this, innovators created a portable
battery pack – the power bank.
Preliminary Literature Review

Gap
● The power bank, due to its small circuitry, is
not the most optimal form of electricity-
containing battery. (Ashley, 2015)
Need for this Study
An alternative source of energy for smartphone
charging that addresses the gap of cellphone
capacity and power bank capabilities would be
of great contribution to:

● Students with Online Learning Classes,

● Home Office Workers, and
● The World.

General Objective

To design a fully functional prototype of

the C.U.T.E. Machine.
Specific Objectives
● Determining the volume and weight of the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype.
● Discerning the temperature in which the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype will start converting thermal energy into electrical
energy.
● Discerning the temperature in which the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype will stop converting thermal energy into electrical
energy.
● Knowing the optimal temperature for the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype to function most efficiently.
● Discovering how long it will take the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype to fully charge a 4000 mAh smartphone.
Research Questions
● What is the volume and weight of the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype?
● At what temperature will the C.U.T.E. Machine prototype start
converting thermal energy into electrical energy?
● At what temperature will the C.U.T.E. Machine prototype stop
converting thermal energy into electrical energy?
● What is the optimal temperature for the C.U.T.E. Machine
prototype to function most efficiently?
● How long will it take the C.U.T.E. Machine prototype to fully
charge a 4000 mAh smartphone?
