July 2021 -- Idaho Community Programs for Youth Awards

Harwood Elementary in Rigby, Jefferson County, School District - $45,000 to hire more certified teachers for after-
school and homework-time programs and support the social and emotional needs of students and staff impacted by
the Rigby Middle School shooting.

Pinehurst Elementary in Pinehurst, Shoshone County, School District - $45,000 to provide significant support to
families living in poverty, rural under-resourced neighborhoods and to support the Pinehurst After School Solution.

Lakevue Y Kids of Nampa - $45,000 The YMCA will support school age programming in partnership with Lakevue
Elementary. The award will go to financial assistance to ensure equitable access and academic enrichment activities.

Payette Lakes Community Association (PLCA) 4 Kids - $45,000 to serve the McCall-Donnelly School District - resume
its after-school program after a total halt in programming due to COVID-19. The school district will expand
scholarship and hire a 3rd teacher to accommodate increased enrollment.

Emmett Middle School - $45,000 to expand its after-school program and serve more students, add staff and
provide academic supports and enrichment classes, and the popular middle school summer camp.

Basin School District - $45,000 The Boise County/ Idaho City school district will extend family support and
educational opportunities such as an activity bus, the Character Strong program and provide enrichment training
with STEM project based learning through Boise State and Idaho STEM Action Center.

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Southern Idaho - $25,000 This after-school program offers opportunities to girls in STEM,
art, entrepreneurship, outdoors, humanities and democracy. This award will enable the Community Troop Program
to increase its size from from 75 to 120 participants. The number of scholarships will also increase.

The Salvation Army Youth Center in Nampa - $25,000 This program provides enrichment activities to highly
vulnerable students including gym time, arts and crafts, music and drama lessons. The funds will support reopening
after-school programs in the 2021/2022 school year, student scholarships, rehiring and training staff at fair wages.

Marsing Academies - $25,000 Marsing 21st CCLC Academies provides a safe and productive place for their children
where 63% of households are not able to afford basic life necessities. Funds will provide academic and
social/emotional support to students at risk and engage parents in their role as their child’s primary teacher.

UpRiver Panthers Afterschool Program - $25,000 The 21st Century Community Learning Center in Benewah County
found significant loss in reading and math test scores for area youth. The UpRiver Panthers Afterschool Program in
Fernwood will provide learning support, tutoring and homework help in cooperation with school district staff.

EXPLORE Afterschool Adventures in Malad – 25,000 EXPLORE’s Afterschool program ensures that students engage
and learn in a structured makerspace. Funds will pay certified teachers, purchase items for a makerspace and
support students while completing their homework.

Girls on the Run, Treasure Valley - $5,000 Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a physical activity-based youth development
program promoting girls' social, emotional, and behavioral skills to navigate life experiences. This program will use
funds to increase scholarships for eligible participants.
