Expression of Interest for Pathways Operations Manager

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

I am writing to apply for Pathways Operations Manager, and consider it an honour to submit my resume. I am
an experienced fighter pilot who has been in the thick and thin of dynamic combat operations requiring swift
response and spontaneous on-field solutions. Currently I have embarked on a journey to purse my
management degree at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

My professional journey began at the National Defence Academy (NDA), the cradle of leadership, where ethos,
such as courage of conviction, ownership of mission, and learning from failures, were drilled in me. During
my 15 year of operational career in defence services, I have led combat units and commanded 300+ personnel
as their commanding officer which has not only honed my leadership skills but also garnered a strong sense of
ownership in me. One of the most important lessons derived is ‘be scrupulously a part of the solution and not
the problem’ which is possible only with meticulous planning, deep diving into details and considering all
imponderables. The dynamic operational environment meshed with unpredictable intelligence inputs
inculcated a strong execution bias and provided the highest level of competitive landscape where being a
runners-up was not an option.

In the later stages of my career as a test pilot, I was responsible for a program, managing development of one
the most advanced Aerial Early Warning Systems (AEWC) for India. Working with the very best to deliver this
disruptive innovation under critical time requirements abetted me to deliver results always and every time
and has encouraged me to always put the customer first even with the back against the wall and under the
most demanding situations. The progress of the project has only evinced in me a zeal to to innovate and evolve
further and seek new opportunities while overcoming the fear of failure.

Having discussed the responsibilities of a Pathways Manager with Cdr Shyam Nambiar in depth, I believe that
the skill sets, a bias-for-action attitude, and attributes such as self-discipline, integrity, honesty of purpose,
risk appetite, and diligence, which I have acquired from the Indian Air Force, resonate with the work ethos at
Amazon. I feel that if given a chance, I will be able to blend naturally with the culture at Amazon. More
importantly, I am certain that this role will provide me opportunities to seek new challenges, acquire new skills,
and diversify my capabilities to help achieve organizational goals and to serve communities.

It would be my privilege to pursue a career as an Operations Manager with Amazon and I look forward to the
challenges and the opportunities thrown at me. It would truly be my aim to learn through the experiences
provided by the Pathways Leadership Development Program.

My resume is enclosed for your kind perusal.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
