Subjunctives (Thức giả đinh)


Câu giả định chỉ điều kiện không có thực:
1. Dạng giả định của động từ.
is / am / are → were have / has done → had done
is / am / are doing → were doing will → would
do → did shall → should
did → had done can → could
Ex: He is 70 years old. (thực) → He wishes he were 30. (giả định, không có thực)
2. Mệnh đề chứa động từ WISH.
Ex: I wish I were a boy. (In fact, I am a girl.)
I wish it were not raining. (In fact, it is raining.)
I wish he would come here tomorrow. (In fact, he will not come)
I wish I hadn't gone to the party last night. (In fact, I went there last night.)
3. Mệnh đề chứa cụm từ IF ONLY.
Ex: If only I could turn back the time. (In fact, I can't)
If only she would attend the meeting tomorrow. (In fact, she will not come)
If only I hadn't met him years ago. (In fact, I met him)
4. Câu chứa các cụm từ WOULD SOONER, WOULD RATHER.
would sooner / would rather + do st than do st
would sooner / would rather (that) + Sb did st than (Sb) did st
Ex: I'd rather do anything than sit here.
I'd rather (that) you did anything than sat here.
I'd rather (that) you told him than I did.
She'd rather (that) you were more careful.
5. Câu chứa các cụm từ: IT'S TIME, IT'S ABOUT TIME, IT'S HIGH TIME…(Đã đến lúc….)
It's time / It's about time / It's high time + for sb + to do st
It's time / It's about time / It's high time + Sb did st
Ex: It's time for us to leave now.
It's time we left now
It's about time he looked back at what he had done.
It's high time she knew how to behave herself.
6. Mệnh đề chứa cụm từ AS IF, AS THOUGH (như thể là…./ dường như….)
Ex.1. It looks as if it is going to rain now. ( It seems that it is going to rain now. → thực)
It looks as though she is very tired. (It seems that she is very tired. → thực)
Ex.2. She acts as if she were my mother. → giả định.
He acted as though he hadn't met her before. → giả định.
7. Các câu điều kiện không có thực.
Ex. If I were you, I would kill myself.
If I had known it, I wouldn't have blamed you.
If he had learnt English, he would have had a job now.
