Step one:
Fasten the cuff around the bare upper arm as shown in the image below.
(Make sure the patient's arm is relaxed and not bent.)

Step two:
Close the valve on the rubber bulb by turning the screw to the right.
The screw will become shorter.

Step five:
The needle in the meter will move as you pump the bulb.
- Stop squeezing when the needle reaches 200.

Step six:
Open the valve just a little by turning the screw to the left so the air leaks out
slowly.
Listen with stethoscope and watch the meter.
The first knocking sound you hear is the top number. (systolic)
-When the sound disappears is the bottom number. (diastolic)
