Vastu Shastra

Vastu shastra means science of architecture. It is a traditional Indian system of architecture which
describes the principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement, and
spatial geometry.

The usual layout considered is as follows

 Children bedroom  Open space  Living Room
 Dining  Living room  Balcony
 Toilet/ septic tank  Treasury  Underground water
 Parking  Bathroom tank
 Open space
 Dining Room  Open space  Entrance
 Overhead Water Tank  Light and Air  Living room
 Children bedroom  Plants  Open space
 Study Room  Bathroom
 Toilet /Septic Tank  Guestroom
 Study room

 Master Bedroom  Bedroom  Kitchen

 Locker  Staircase  Store room
 Wardrobes  Store room
 Heavy items  Not an open space
 Staircase
 Overhead water tank

It is a collection of ideas and concepts, with or without the support of layout diagrams, that are not rigid.
Rather, these ideas and concepts are models for the organization of space and form within a building or
collection of buildings, based on their functions in relation to each other and their usage.

In short, oriention sun, flow of wind, angle of light and everything else is taken into consideration while
planning a house.
