III. Instructional Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Drill

x 9 x 3 x 5 x 6 x 7

11 14 15 8 7

x 4 x 2 x 3 x 6 x 7

2. Mental Drill

a. Mr. Cruz has 6 apartments. Each apartment has 4 bedrooms. How many bedrooms are
there in all?

b. A box of facemasks costs P 100.00. How much would 6 boxes of facemasks cost?

3. Checking of Assignment

4. Motivation
Have you ever visited friends or relatives’ house?

Describe their house.

What part of the house did you like the most? Why?

How do you keep your house clean and orderly?

Why should we keep our house clean?

B. Developmental Activities:

1. Presentation

a.) Story Problem

BARBIE’S HOUSE

BARBIE’S SWIMMING POOL

Barbie is my cousin. I always visit her during vacation. They live in San
Fernando City. Their house is big and beautiful. She always keeps their house clean
and orderly. They have a triangular swimming pool with a base of 6 meters and a
height of 8 meters. What is the area of the swimming pool?

b.) Comprehension Check-up

a. What is the name of my cousin?

b. Where do they live?

c. How do you describe their house/swimming pool?

d. What is the shape of their house and swimming pool?

e. If you were Barbie, would you also keep your house and swimming pool clean?
How?

2. Performing the Activities

What is the shape of the swimming pool?

How long is its base?

What is its height?

What is asked in the problem?

What will you do to solve the problem?

Illustrate: Let us draw the problem on the board.

8m

6m

 In a triangle, any side maybe called the base (b).

 The perpendicular distance between the base and the opposite
vertex is the height.
 To solve the problem, we used the formula in finding the area of a
triangle.

A= 1 x b x h
2

 The area of a triangle is equal to one-half times the base times the
height.
 Using the formula, we now substitute:

A= area

b= base

h= height

 Let’s now solve the problem using the formula in finding the area
of a triangle.

A= 1 x b x h
2

A= 1 x 6 x 8
2

A= 1 x 48
2
A= 48
2

A= 24 square meters or 24 m2

 So, what is the area of Barbie’s swimming pool? (24 m2)

How did we get it?

What formula did we use?

3. Processing the Activities

Giving other example

Find the measurement of the pizza in cm. and find the area.

How were you able to find the area of the triangle?

What is the answer?

4. Reinforcing the Concept and Skill

Find the area of each triangle using the formula.
