The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier represents the sacrifice and valor of the
American soldiers, the brave and courageous souls protecting our nation, whether it
means giving their lives for the sake of freedom, or returning home to their loving
families. I hold the highest esteem for the troops of this great nation, living in a world
with fear, the soldiers of the United States are without fear and break through the
obstacle with courage, and immense passion.

My family’s military history dates back to the Revolutionary War, and only
escalates from there. Though the soldiers of past affairs have perished, their legacy
lives on. Whether it be from a history textbook, a novel, or a museum, never shall their
stories be forgotten, each soldier of this nation have all presented valor in the name of
the United States. What is valor? Valor is the potential to do something, not without fear,
but working with fear.

The soldiers located in the Tomb of the Unknown may have been unidentified,
but everyone in this country understands what they did, and why. There is no question
that each soldier located in the tomb has shown bravery, and courage beyond heroic
means. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a potent reminder of the obstacles these
soldiers broke through, and the amount of bravery it took to be a soldier of the United
States of America.

With my family’s history, and the great level of esteem I have for the soldiers of
this nation, I believe I should be chosen to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier. Laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown would be a great honor, and I
believe I would be ideal in representing Morton Middle School at the Tomb of the
Unknown.
