IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION IN EDUCATION

As we all know, the world is changing constantly. So as we adapt to the changes

it brings also. Including the positive and negative impacts, causes, and uses of it we
learn from it all. Thus we come up with better and deeper understanding on how to
react and solve issues about it. The word Globalization is referred to as the word used
to describe the growing interdependence of the worlds’ economies, cultures and
populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology,
and flows of investment, people and information. This is according to Peterson Institute
for International Economies. In other term, it is the speed up of the movement and
exchange of human trade, services, technology and investment with results to the
growth and cultivation of economies in the world. In a way that countries connect with
each other and makes things easier to communicate, establish relationship, collaborate,
integrate, work and benefit from each other economically, politically, socially and
culturally.

In another input, the world is connected easily and there is the feel that they are
not far but really close, near and reachable because of globalization’s steadfast growth
that makes the place and atmosphere smaller. As what we have mentioned earlier, the
changes in the world are constant and unstoppable. We must adapt and go with what’s
going on with the flow. A factor in the fast growth globalization is the advancement of
our technologies where people uses different mediums to communicate faster, process

and navigate appointments in a snap and travel anywhere and reach even the farthest
on the map and even make transactions online without sweat. While there are many
countries has easy access and ways of transporting, communicating, migrating, political
and economic resources and attributes to work on, countries and people in the
undeveloped sectors were greatly affected by these movements. So as much as we
want to make things equal and fair, we cannot achieve all of these because of certain
situations and phenomena. There are people who benefit enough from the globalization
and there are also some who are poorly acknowledged and given the opportunity to live
and compete with it too. For specificity and generalization on what aspects the
globalization affected and impacted the world in many ways are industrial globalization,
financial globalization, economic globalization, political globalization, informational
globalization, and by cultural globalization.

The impact of Globalization in Education is what we should take account to as

future movement educators. There are a lot o accounts and debates about what really
globalization is and there are people who think globalization is dangerous to the world
and while some says it greatly brought good things where people are connected easily
and an empowering kind of movement. So as there are negative and positive impacts in
globalization that there happens what led to the education that we have today. First
claim is that the Globalization impacted to transform the world in every aspect. It
transformed the world in a way that people had increased connectedness which
purports to a better standard of living in a society and an improved quality of life. In
this thought, the world become logically and critically competitive and now more
knowledgeable as it developed a lot of areas in political, economic, social and other
fields as well. Next is that the Global Education interconnects methods of teaching from
worldwide systems to encourage the international development of environmental
sustainability, as well as contribution toward fortifying global industries. One of the
positive efforts of Global Education in the pursuit of sharing knowledge is to give

importance and modes of how to manage our environmental sector that it would put
into consideration always and not to disregard.
For example, the UNESCO together with the Global Community adopted and took
action in understanding that what people do today have implications on the lives here
on earth and in the planet in the future. Education for Sustainable Development (SDG)
empowers people to change the way they think and work towards a sustainable future.
UNESCO also includes sustainable development issues, aims to improve access to
quality education on sustainable environment at all levels and in all social contexts, to
transform societies by reshaping education to help them develop their knowledge, skills,
values and other good conduct behavior needed today. And as a result to these things
also, children at an early age as they connects and have access to the modern world
will be also aware and equipped with these ideas t further cultivate and help the world
in a good cause. Because they were exposed at an early stage, it is a good foundation
and start for their future as they were aware of the World’s happenings.
While there are many things to consider and be careful of, they should know
how to filter information and collect all ideologies to be prepared to both positive and
negative certainties of life. The students have already a prior or stored knowledge. They
can use new acquired knowledge to formulate ideas, think critically, analyze and use
tools to solve solutions and make appropriate judgement about different situations. It
also enhances their ability to collect and manipulate symbols which are highly
productive employment in today’s economy such as political, legal and business terms,
and digital money. To wrap up, globalization creates and produces an increased
quantity of scientifically and technically trained persons. The emerging economy is
based on knowledge as a key factor of production and the industries demand the
employees remain highly trained in science and technology. There is more competition
in the field and we can say that only the skilled and best people are highlighted and
included. And they necessarily need to have social skills intended to work on with their
colleagues and workmates. This encourages them to have a connection with each other

to better inculcate solutions and work closely with their team. Through developing skills
in a team, compromise with each other, debate information’s, persuade people and
markets, to lead and to manage.
Another impact of Globalization in Education is in the field of Information and
Global societies where it requires a holistic understanding of the world’s system,
system’s thinking and business eco-system. Globally, they require also a holistic
approach to solve these problems. Interdisciplinary research approaches here are what
we depend on critically to better understand the complex reality the world is facing
right now. Next, Globalization breaks the boundaries of space and time. Education plays
a role by making teacher-student relations in learning more easier, open to new ways
and communication very fast. In this time of pandemic for example the teachers and
students are greatly challenge on how to cope and make diverse ways in relation to
learning. In my case, our institution provided asynchronous way of learning and in
addition to module type instructions where we are very lucky to be aided by a gadget
also.
Then Globalization creates and supports information technologists, policy
makers, and practitioners for the purpose of rethinking education and supports
mechanisms for the exchange of ideas and experiences in the use of educational
technologies. Thus, it supports the new methods, researches and explorations in
experimenting information and technologies for more effective learning. Many other
more impacts of Globalization in Education include mutual support, supplement and
benefit to produce synergy for various developments of countries, communities and
individuals, creating values and enhancing efficiency through the above global sharing
and mutual support to serving local needs and growth, promoting international
understanding, collaboration, harmony, and acceptance to cultural diversity across
countries and regions, and facilitating communications, interactions, and encouraging
multi-cultural contributions at different levels among countries.

The potential fallback of globalization in education can be the increased

technological gaps and digital divides between advanced countries and less developed
countries. Globalization in education may end up creating more legitimate opportunities
for a few advanced countries for a new form of colonization of developing countries. In
conclusion, most of the impacts of Globalization stated above are positive in terms from
the demands for widening the education access for all, continuous lifelong learning,
global versus local cultural development, creation of new educational networked
organization, and demand for more flexible and general skills. As what Nelson Mandela
said, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”.
