Because the illustrations in the service literature are used for different variants, there may be differences
in some of the components. The essential information in the illustrations is, however, always correct.

General
The AC station FRS-10 GS, 9812512 can be used to drain, clean, recover and refill refrigerant. The A/C
station can also vacuum pump the installation.

2 nipples, 9812446, for connecting to a refrigerant bottle and nipple 9812447 for oil hose 9998237 are
supplied with the A/C station.

Hose connections for the high pressure hose and low pressure hose are available as spare parts: red
high pressure hose 9812432 and blue low pressure hose 9512210.

Accreditation
R134a Tetrafluoroethane is the refrigerant used in the air conditioning system. Environmental regulations
require that different types of refrigerant can be taken care of and recycled in a secure manner. If there is
a possibility that could be an emission of refrigerant R134a, the following must be considered:

Service workshops must be accredited in order to handle refrigerants.

At an accredited workshop, there must be at least one person in a supervisory capacity with certified
competence.
Local regulations must be observed in all handling of refrigerant in climate control systems.

Safety rules

Warning

R134a is relatively hazardous.

Always use tightly fitting goggles and rubber gloves, and protect exposed skin. Skin contact with refrigerant in liquid fo
concentrations, it can have an effect on the centr

If someone comes into contact with refrigerant carry out the following:
Eye contact – Flush immediately with plenty of water, preferably running. Contact a doctor.
Skin contact - In the event of frostbite, flush with lukewarm water for a long time. Contact a doctor.
Inhalation – Fresh air. Move the person out of the risk zone. In severe cases, consult a doctor.

Malfunctions
Fault causes

The most common causes of faults in an air conditioning installation are:

Damp, dirt or dust in the refrigerant circuit. If there is any moisture in the refrigerant, ice plugs will form
blocking the expansion valve. To reduce the risk of moisture in the system when carrying out repairs, it is
important that repairs are done quickly and that things are kept clean and dry.

A/C oil should be stored in a container with a sealed lid, otherwise the oil will absorb moisture from the air.
The protective plugs on new components must be left on until just before the component is connected.

Note: Do not use compressed air for cleaning.

After collision damage, for example, it is important that every component with suspected damage is
carefully checked. In particular check soldered joints. Damp by joints is a sign of leakage. Do not repair
deformed and cracked pipes. If it is suspected that dirt has got into a component, this must be checked
and cleaned. In the event of major repairs, when components are replaced or if moisture is suspected,
replace the receiver drier.

Fault tracing

Carry out a performance test to find the cause of the fault quickly. Please refer to the Service Manual or
separate Service Bulletins.

Repair instructions and tests are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C . At higher temperatures the
measured values rise.

Maintenance
Changing oil in the A/C station

The oil in the A/C station compressor should be changed at least 6 times/year. There are various types of
A/C oil, they must not be confused. Use ester oil, part number 9812442 in the A/C station compressor.
Open the right side hatch. Place the A/C station with its front upwards. Undo the sealing cap on service
connector 1. Undo the sealing cap on the air nipple inside the hatch. Oil will now run out. Make draining
easier by tilting the A/C station to the right. Stand the A/C station up, re-fit the sealing cap on the air
nipple and fit the hatch.
Connect a hose to service connector 1 and lower it into a container filled with new oil. Start the A/C
station using button 12, see figure Fig. , and draw up the oil. Close the A/C station and fit the sealing cap.

Hoses and connections

Red hose High pressure hose for refrigerant out. Used for filling the high pressure union, and for
emptying to the refrigerant container.

Yellow High pressure hose for refrigerant in. Used for emptying the high pressure union, and for
hose filling the refrigerant container.

Blue hose Low pressure hose for refrigerant in. Connected to the low pressure union.

The connections have a safety connector to prevent the hoses from unintentionally coming loose. To
connect and disconnect hoses:
Close the cock. You cannot remove the union unless the cock is fully closed.
Pull the ring towards you while keeping the button depressed.
Connectors must always be fitted on the appropriate dummy plug 13 on the A/C station, see figure Fig. ,
when they are not connected to the climate control system or the refrigerant container.

Filter replacement
Replace the filter at least 6 times/year or 50 drainages. Filter, part number 9812449, located inside front
hatch.
