WHAT IS CLADDING AND ITS IMPORTANCE?
● It is the application of one material over another to provide a skin or layer.

● In construction, cladding is used to provide a degree of thermal insulation,

weather resistance and to improve the appearance of buildings.

● Cladding can be made of wide variety of materials that include: aluminium,

wood, metal, brick, vinyl etc.

● Rainscreen cladding is a form of weather cladding designed to protect

against the elements, but also offers thermal insulation.

● Cladding may also be a control element for noise, either entering or

escaping.

● It also helps to prevent fire inside the building.

The importance of fire resistance in facade materials

● Two important parameters that define the performance of fire safe façade materials are their
combustibility and smoke production. If façade material is combustible, it will contribute the
spread of fire to other parts of the building. Façade materials may also produce toxic smoke
which causes more deaths, and toxic content of the smoke will depend upon the materials that
they are Fire safe or not.

Stone cladding
● Stone cladding is comprised of thin layers of natural or simulated stone.
● There are many types of stone claddings available in the market according to the material and techniques used.
● Price Range starts from 80/sqft to 160/sqft. Some examples are listed below.
