(5) If the fault code 3502 SEC HX PERF is shown in the present faults or fault history, do the
fault isolation for the SEC HX PERF (Refer to FIM 21−60−00−810−846).
(6) If the fault code 3601 FD BYP VLV is shown in the present faults or fault history, do the fault
isolation for the FD BYP VLV (Refer to FIM 21−60−00−810−853).
(7) If the fault code 3607 CAB BYP VLV is shown in the present faults or fault history, do the
fault isolation for the 3607 CAB BYP VLV (Refer to FIM 21−60−00−810−806).
(8) If the fault code 3D04 FD OLT MISCMP is shown in the present faults or fault history, do the
fault isolation for the 3D04 FD OLT MISCMP (Refer to FIM 21−60−00−810−829).
(9) If the fault code 3D09 CAB OLT MISCMP is shown in the present faults or fault history, do
the fault isolation for the 3D09 CAB OLT MISCMP (Refer to FIM 21−60−00−810−831).
(10) Is the cabin hot and the flight crew operates with the flight compartment vents closed?
(Refer to DH8400−SL 21002A).
NOTE: During the winter season, the combination of low Outside Air Temperature (OAT)
and the flight compartment vent valves in the closed condition can cause a hot
cabin. The ECS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) senses the low temperatures in
the flight compartment with the zone temperature sensor. This commands the
flight compartment pack bypass valve to add heat. Because the additional heat
cannot be supplied to the flight compartment through closed vents, it is supplied
to the cabin.
(11) If the CDS does not show the fault codes in present faults or fault history, then do the fault
isolation.
(12) Erase the data from the CDS (Refer to AMM 45−00−21−743−801)
5. Fault Isolation

(f) Set the CABIN temperature selector to the COOL (9 o’clock) position and wait 1
minute for the temperature to become stable.
(4) Does the temperature of the duct change as a result of each temperature selection?
(a) If yes, continue with the next step.
(b) If no and the temperature of the duct does not increase, do the Unable to Heat Cabin
and/or Flight Deck Fault Isolation (FIM 21−60−00−810−880)
(c) If no and the temperature of the duct does not decrease, do the ECS Unable to Cool
Cabin and/or Flight Deck Fault Isolation (FIM 21−60−00−810−883)
(5) On the AIR CONDITIONING control panel, set the controls to the positions that follow:
(a) Set the Cabin PACK switch to the OFF position.
(b) Set the FLT COMP switch to the MAN position.
(c) Set the CABIN TEMP GAUGE selector switch to FC DUCT.
(d) Set the FLT COMP temperature selector to the center (12 o’clock) position and wait 5
minutes for the temperature to become stable.
(e) Set the FLT COMP temperature selector to the WARM (3 o’clock) position and wait 1
minute for the temperature to become stable.
(f) Set the FLT COMP temperature selector to the COOL (9 o’clock) position and wait 1
minute for the temperature to become stable.
(6) Does the temperature of the duct change as a result of each temperature selection?
(a) If yes, continue with the next step.
(b) If no and the temperature of the duct does not increase, do the Unable to Heat Cabin
and/or Flight Deck − Fault Isolation (FIM 21−60−00−810−880)
(c) If no and the temperature of the duct does not decrease, do the ECS Unable to Cool
Cabin and/or Flight Deck − Fault Isolation (FIM 21−60−00−810−883)
(7) On the AIR CONDITIONING control panel, set the controls to the positions that follow:
(a) Set the CABIN PACK switch to the AUTO position.
(b) Set the FLT COMP switch to the OFF position.
(c) Set the CABIN Temp GAUGE selector switch to CAB DUCT.
(d) Set the CABIN temperature selector to the center (12 o’clock) position and wait 5
minutes for the temperature to become stable.
(e) Set the CABIN temperature selector to the WARM (3 o’clock) position and wait 1
minute for the temperature to become stable.
(f) Set the CABIN temperature selector to the COOL (9 o’clock) position and wait 1
minute for the temperature to become stable.
(8) Does the temperature of the duct change as a result of each temperature selection?
(a) If yes, continue with the next step.
(b) If no, go to Step 13.
(9) On the AIR CONDITIONING control panel, set the controls to the positions that follow:
(a) Set the Cabin PACK switch to the OFF position.
(b) Set the FLT COMP switch to the AUTO position.
(10) Does the temperature of the duct change as a result of each temperature selection?
(a) If yes, continue with the next step.
(b) If no, go to Step 13.
(11) If the results of Steps 3 through 10 were satisfactory, use the engine bleed air to do the fault
isolation as follows:
NOTE: The APU bleed air supplies a much larger volume of flow and pressure than the
engine bleed air. This additional pressure is sufficient to make an unsatisfactory
valve operate correctly.
(a) Shut down the APU (Refer to AMM 49−00−00−869−802)
(b) Start the engine (Refer to AMM 71−00−00−868−801)
(c) Do Steps 6 through 10 again.
(d) Shut down the engine (Refer to AMM 71−00−00−868−802)
(12) If the system operates correctly, do the close out.
(13) If the fault continues, do a check of the cabin zone temperature sensor and the flight
compartment zone temperature sensor for contamination.
(a) If the cabin zone temperature sensor has contamination, do the Cleaning of the Cabin
Zone Temperature Sensor (Refer to AMM 21−61−09−160−802)
(b) If the flight compartment zone temperature sensor has contamination, clean the flight
compartment zone temperature sensor .
(c) Do the close out.
(14) If the fault continues, do the resistance checks that follow (Refer to CMM 21−61−21):
(a) Do a resistance check of the CABIN temperature control potentiometer (2164R4).
(b) Do a resistance check of the FLT COMP temperature control potentiometer (2161R1).
(c) Replace the potentiometers that are unserviceable.
(d) Do the close out.
(15) If the fault continues, do the continuity checks of the aircraft wiring between the ECS ECU
and the zone temperature sensors that follow (Refer to WM 21−61−00−1):
2100−P4 2100−P33
(ECU) (Cabin Zone Temperature Sensor)

Pin 7 Pin 2
