AUDITIONS-ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY – FALL 2021

Additional form – Intimacy

Several productions this semester may have situations that are intimate in nature. This may include
same-sex kissing/touching, simulated sex/rape, cross-dressing, etc. Please know that we will have
intimacy coordinators on hand to assist with the planning and blocking of these scenes. Please check
which of the following situations you are uncomfortable portraying and return this form with your
audition form to Tim Stadler. It will be forwarded to the appropriate director.

PLEASE NOTE: By indicating that you are uncomfortable with any item listed below, you are not
automatically eliminated for consideration to any production or any role. All responses will be kept in
the strictest of confidence and forms will be destroyed after auditions.

• Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors – deals with 2 distinct student action groups in two
different times. One of the groups live in 2016. The other, a gay action group lives in 1976 and is
made up of 5 LGBTQ students (3 male identifying and 2 female identifying.) There is some strong
language and use of derogatory terms amongst themselves as they attempt to organize.

• Head Over Heels – is a show about awakening inner truth and desire, where all shades of
gender and sexuality are celebrated. All of the characters (principal and ensemble) will
be part of devised group movement and dance, some of it sensual in nature. This will
include a range of intimacy from flirtatious touch to kissing. Some costumes may be
revealing, but there is no nudity in the show. The characters of Basilius and Gynecia
have an on-stage love scene that includes undressing on stage, and the character of
Musidorus has an on-stage costume change. Any intimacy will be treated like
choreography and is often part of the dance numbers in the show.

• Wolves – contains strong language and discussion of sex and abortion. Many exchanges also
center on aspects of identity (perceived and actual). Questions and ideas around how identity
can be explored within each track are welcome and encouraged prior and during the audition
and rehearsal process.

• BOB: A Life in Five Acts – is a show about dreams, ambition, and all the bumps along the road of
life that try to stop us in our tracks. It’s mostly funny and charming and has a lot of heart, but it
does deal with serious issues as well, such as suicide, death, domestic violence, and sex work. All
cast members will play multiple roles, many of which involve kissing and suggested
physical intimacy and/or other sex acts, however no explicit intimacy will be shown on
stage. Some costumes may be revealing, but there is no nudity in the show.

• Robot Nature - is a musical comedy about robots and scientists. There will be tap dancing and
house music—some people have a sensitivity to these. The only possible violence/intimacy will be
a slo-motion mutiny and a pas de deux where each scientist is paired with the robot they
created.
