Project briefing report

Strategic plans
The Deliva is a courier company that is situate in the busy city of Sydney and has been providing the
delivery services to their customer since last 10 years. As the company is facing to provide the better
services to their customer so the company has been developing some strategies to make their deliver
work easier with the help of technology. Some of the strategies that has been built to make the work
effective and easier are:
- Using the online portal to collect and deliver the parcel to customers,
- Make the online booking system which will be automatically directed to the appropriate
delivery vehicle,
- The parcel will be delivered using the most appropriate route with the help of GPS,
- Use the interactive mapping technology for the customer to track the delivery,

Operational needs
As the strategic plan has been successfully made the company need to make a study on the
requirement of the resources for the different phases of the implementation process. As there are
many different process in developing the online portal so the company must make deep study for the
required resources. Some of the operational needs for the development of the online portal are:
- Group of experience and skilled manpower,
- Hardware like desktop, server, printers, etc.
- Software requirement like text-editor, security services, debugger tools
- Hosting services,
- Space,
- Tracking devices,
- Network etc.

Strategic context
Here the objectives, management of the project, analysis of the competitive environment and internal
environment are defined. The main objective of the organization for implementing the online portal
system are:
- To manage the parcel delivery system in the busy city of Sydney,
- To provide the easy delivery of parcel to their customers,
- To provide quick delivery to the customers,
- To track the efficient route for the delivery and track the delivery of the parcel.

Client requirements
As the client always like to have the work done easily. Here also as the company has been finding
difficulty to manage its delivery system so to get the things to place the requirement of the client’s
requirement was done from which following requirements of the client’s found:
- Timely delivery of the parcel,
- Easy and quick access to their parcel,
- To have proper information on how and where the parcel will be delivered,
- to know about the information like departure, arrival and delivery,
- the confirmation about the parcel is being delivered correctly and safely.

Legislation and standards


The legislation and standard related to the company and the impact of legislation are:
- The policy related to good vehicle: this policy includes the legislation such as operator’s
license, weight of the vehicle according to the given standards, restrictions related to driving
hours and rest periods, testing of the vehicles etc.

- Legislation related to goods and services: This legislation includes the standard related to the
services to the customers such as: the description of the services must not be misleading,
satisfactory services for the customers, legislation related to different aspects of customers.

- legislation relate to employee: hiring the employee the company must keep up with the
legislation related to the employee such as: health insurance, pay and pension services,
working time, salary on contract basis, equal opportunity, sickness pay and leave.

- Legislation related to insurance for the courier services: the business needs the insurance
cover such as cash transit, employ liability, premises etc.

Risk management
The risk associated to the business after the implementation of the new system are:
- Online security and threats,
- System reliability,
- Privacy issues,
- Intellectual property issues.
The management plan for the associated risks are:
- Having the good security system by using good security tools,
- Developing the system with provides the good authorization system and does not and the
payment system must be secure,
- The customers data must be handled carefully and must not be used by any authorized
individuals,
- Protecting the intellectual property of the online site of the company such as the the video and
images shared in the site, products, logos etc.
