Kaedah Skemata Dalam Pengajaran Membaca

Abstrak

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti penggunaan kaedah skemata dalam pengajaran bahasa
Melayu di kelas pemulihan dapat mempercepatkan kemahiran membaca pelajar. Kajian reka bentuk
tinjauan ini dijalankan di beberapa buah sekolah rendah di Daerah Kubang Pasu. Instrumen kajian
seperti pemerhatian respon murid kepada kaedah konvensional, skor ujian pra dan pasca dan borang
soal selidik digunakan untuk mendapatkan data kuantitatif. Sampel melibatkan 32 murid dari kelas-
kelas pemulihan sekolah rendah daerah Kubang Pasu, Kedah. Dapatan analisis data memenuhi syarat-
syarat statistik deskriptif antaranya, sisihan piawai melebihi 0.5, julat Min melebihi 3.0 dan ujian untuk
ketekalan dalaman dengan nilai Cronbach’s alpha melebihi 0.7 (iaitu 0.823). Fokus utama kajian ini
adalah untuk mendapatkan keputusan sama ada terdapat perbezaan, sumbangan dan pengaruh aspek
kaedah pengajaran membaca dan kaedah skemata terhadap peningkatan prestasi kemahiran membaca.
Semua maklumat dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS 20 secara statistik deskriptif dan
inferens. Keberkesanan kaedah intervensi kaedah skemata dapat dilihat daripada Min skor ujian pra
dan pasca iaitu peningkatan 24.4% (48.8% meningkat jadi 60.7%). Dapatan kajian menunjukkan
kaedah skemata mempercepatkan kemahiran membaca murid pemulihan. Seterusnya, cadangan dibuat
untuk diguna pakai dalam meningkatkan kemahiran membaca pelajar sekolah rendah bukan saja di
negeri Kedah malah di seluruh negara bagi mencapai agenda pendidikan kebangsaan.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the Teaching to Read Method Using
Schemata in the Bahasa Melayu (BM) remedial reading class in order to improve students’
performance and thus help them to be on par with their peers in a normal class. The research
methodology involved the construction of survey instruments, the evaluation items and the reliability
and validity of the investigative process items. The sample consisted of 32 students enrolled in BM
remedial reading classes from primary schools in the district of Kubang Pasu, Kedah. SPSS version 20
was used for processing and data analysis. The results showed that the requirements of descriptive
statistics were met such as SD exceeding 0.5, mean range more than 3.0 and that the coefficient of
reliability for the three variables of teaching of reading, schemata method and student achievement
was high (exceeding 0.7). Students showed improved performance in the mean test scores with
increase of 24.4% when pre-test scores (48.8%) and post-test scores (60.7%) were compared.
Teachers in the BM remedial reading clasess had confirmed that the students no longer needed their
guidance for remedial reading. This study has proved that remedial reading using schemata method
can be used to rapidly and effectively improve the performance of remedial reading class students to
achieve a normal student’s reading ability.1
