Drug education
Educationenables children, youth and adults to develop the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes to appreciate the benefits of living healthily (which
may or may not include the use of psychoactive substances), promote
responsibility towards the use of drugs and relate these to their own actions and
those of others
Effective drug education is important because young people are faced with
many influences to use both licit and illicit drugs. Education can play a
counterbalancing role in shaping a normative culture of safety, moderation, and
informed decision making.
Importance of Drug Education
Drug Education Refers to the things we learn about drugs it is importance to
us to have information and knowledge on drugs because of the following:
1. Drug education helps us to know what drugs are.
2. Drug education creates awareness of the need to use drug wisely.
3. Drug Education is a way of helping people to show concern for others.
4. Drug education helps us to know the rules and regulations concerning the
production and use of drugs.
