An optional third axis is also available for yaw axis control. In addition a yaw damper, which Allows the pilot to engage the yaw axis independent of the autopilot is avail- able too. These systems can be described as follows: 1. KEC 200 Flight Control System with single-cue (KI 256) Flight Director In- dicator. 2, KFC 200 Flight Control Systen without the Flight Director Mode. The system uses the KG'258 Attitude Horizon Indicator. ‘A more comprehensive description is given on the Product Ordering Sheets just inside the front cover of this manual. WARKING READ THE INSTALLATION MANUAL BEFORE BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM. ‘The numbers on the photographs indicate the item numbers on the appropriate parts lists, ‘These same numbers are also called out in the corresponding sec- Pion of text. Section II contains the detailed installation instructions for the components of the KFC 200 System, while Section III contains Ground Checks and Flight Ad~ Justments and Section IV the Installation Kit Parts List. Section V contains the generalized installation drawings and STC documents. 1.2 UNPACKING & INSPECTING EQUIPMENT Rev. Exercise extreme care when unpacking each unit. Make a visual inspection of each unit for evidence of danage incurred during shipment. If a claim for dan- ge is to be made, save the shipping container to substantiate the claim. A maximum 10 to 20 de- grees viewing angle ffon the pilot's normal line of vision to the center of fhe indicator is required. NOTE BE SURE TO READ SECTION IIT, GROUND CHECKS BEFORE INSTALLING THE KI 256 OR KG 258 IN THE AIRPLANE, B. The KI 256 or the KG 256 is mounted through the front of the airplane panel and should be secured fron the back per Figure 5-6 with the nut plate (Item 4) and four #6-32 screws (Item 5) that are provided. C. Using the connector (Item 1) provided, hood (Item 2) and Lever and Pivot Assembly (Item 3) connect the wiring to the unit as shown in Figure 5-1. 2.3.2. VACUUM CONNECTIONS A. The KI 256 or KG 258 is plumbed in the same manner as any air driven gyro. ‘The ports for vacuum or pressure are located on the rear of the unit. The inlet port is clearly marked as such. Use the existing plumbing and hardvare to connect the pneumatic gauge lines to the proper fittings. Figure S-3 is used to pluab the gyro tovthe airplane's existing vacuun or pressure systen. B. A proper air filtration system is required for the KI 256 and KG 258. Most airplanes being manufactured are equipped with a central filtering system of 0.3 microns capacity. If the airplane is not so equipped, the installing agency must puta filter in to guarantee proper operation of the KI 256 and KG 258. MOTE FAA REGULATION (REF. FAR 23.1331) REQUIRES THAT A VACUUM/PRESSURE GAUGE 86 IN- STALLED TO MONITOR THE AMOUNT OF VACUUM OR PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO THE KI 256 OR KG 258, IF ONE 1S NOT ALREADY IN THE AIRPLANE.
