Notice: Meeting Times and Order have been changed for 2012. The Pearl Lake Protection
and Rehabilitation District Meeting will be called to order at 8:30am followed immediately
at adjournment by the Pearl Lake Property Owners Association Meeting
The Redgranite Area Firepersonel wish to thank the Pearl Lake Property Owners for their support during last year’s
Pearl Lake Day. See you again August 4th this year.
Pearl Lake Day YOU make it Happen August 4th
Can it be that Pearl Lake Day is more than fifteen years old? Each year's celebration is
unique in its own special way and initiates sweet memories. Maybe you are fortunate enough to
have a golf trophy, a boat parade award or a rubber chicken prominently displayed in your
cottage making you the envy of all your friends and neighbors. Those prizes involved some
blood, sweat and tears and I am not referring to the musicians.

Remember way back when the Rhyan Family did not automatically win the golf tournament?
How about the year that severe lightning and storms prevented us from having the boat parade?
Think back about the time Chuck Johanns stood at the prison doors of his pontoon wearing his
latest striped black and white jailhouse leisure suit.

I can recall so many years ago when we danced late into the night to the music of Mary's
jukebox to console ourselves after the boat parade winners' list was announced. And wasn't it
just last summer when Alaine and Bob Williams defied wind and rough waves as they paddled
their canoe home from the beach as the band scrambled to get their guitars out of the torrential
downfall?

Attendance is building and lately folks arrive early for the run/walk or to play golf and then
spend the remainder of the day celebrating, and partying in one way or another. Let's face it;
Pearl Lakers know how to have a great time!

Whether you are dancing with a blue tambourine (Jean Georgen) shaking your hips in a hula
hoop (Betty Conklin & Diane Perenick) collecting and counting boat parade ballots (Jen Pierotti
& Shelly Tobiasz) handing out complementary Curve Inn gift certificates (Mary Zelesnik) timing
the fastest runners (Dany Pollaski) selecting 4 laundry baskets filled with props and kids toys
and prizes (Jen Hiller) firing up the grill/corn cooker (Members of Fire/Rescue) leading the car
show (Brian Meyer) swinging candy filled pinatas (Theresa Rucks) taking incriminating photos
(Dave Paulick) leading the potato sack race (Jesse Wolter) or volunteering to lead the shotski
team (???) the day is a huge success because many of you cheerfully and selflessly donate
your time, energy, talents and moola. So if you are someone who attends the party how about
volunteering your skills this year. We need you. Many hands make light work. I guarantee you
will have a great time getting to know the nicest people in Wisconsin.
Here is a list of peeps deserving our thanks:
Fire Department-cooks
EMTs-guardian angels for the run/walk
Britt and Steve Gosenheimer- golf tournament
Theresa and Randy Rucks- Pinatas logistics

Since I can't SUF2F (see you face to face) I'm excited to tweet to you from my MN (Milwaukee nest) as I prepare
to HNTPL (head north to pearl lake). LOL (laugh out loud).

Are you all ready to RYBO? (rake your butts off) PFAD (plant flowers all day) PYSB, PCC, or AJS? (Polish your speed
boat, pontoon cocktail cruiser or annoying jet ski? Ready to MAM (mix and mingle) see old friends and make some
new ones?! Not including the (DNR) though, too many of our PLF (pearl lake friends) already know the DNR too
well. Just sayin'...

I don't KAY (know about you) but the Beese, and Williams' families are RTGTPLO (ready to get their pearl lake on).
We are ready to SEP (see our peeps) and enjoy all that our amazing lake and county has to offer. We are SAT (sick
and tired) of the city and are anxiously awaiting the inaugural LOTW & TOTBPC (lighting of the Webber and
Twisting of the Barley Pop Caps). We look forward to catching up on everyone's NFTW (news from the winter) and
planning our SC (social calendars) for our FMOTY (favorite months of the year) SUMMER TIME!

Our PLC (pearl lake calendar) is always full of LOL and (laugh out loud) and STFO (shock the fish and owls)
activities. Luckily those fish and owls can't talk, or a lot of us would be in DS (deep sand) LOL. I'm confident you
too are excited for your FFFOTS (first fish fry of the summer) DTNA (dancing the night away) at Silvercryst, SD
(skinny dipping) CSSWFIYB (counting shooting stars while floating in your boats) and wishing for an incredible
summer, as always! Ah, blessings....

Don't get me started on those MFM (most frustrating mosquitoes)... what did you think I was going to write?
Naughty, naughty! Bring on the Skin-So-Soft, Ginger root and eye-of-newt, or what ever secret family recipe you
use to KTAB (keep them at bay). Our families have found that a healthy mix of GBCMMLARW (Gin, Brandy, Captain
Morgan, Miller Lite and Red Wine work amazing (not necessarily in that order) or at the same time, but whatever
works, damn MFM's!!! Pop in to the Beese Cottage or Willoufern and we'll be happy to share our recipe with you.
There's never a shortage of ice, chairs or BS (Beese stories) on our porch for our friends...

Looking forward to SYAP (seeing you at pearl) reconnecting with our dear friends and family and giving the fish
and owls something to blush about.

SYSLYA (see you soon, love you all)

SLB,

a.k.a. The Prez!

Pearl Lake open water dates

Lake freeze over: December 16, 2011
Ice out: March 15, 2012
Avg. Ice thickness: 16 inches as per a couple
of ice fishermen I talked to. Also mentioned
were a number of soft areas. Snow. What a
difference a year makes. I used the Snow blower
twice all season.
The town board’s change of this past season’s
snow removal worked out very well.
- Ice Out -
The groans of an ancient icebeast, captive in the glacial lake, awaken me in predawn darkness.
My imagination, ignited by the haunting echos,
sketches the image stirring to be set free of it's crystal prison.
March ides winds, sweep it to shore amid a trillion tinkling shards.

We will miss him.

I am sad to report that the Pearl Lake Association has lost one of our very devoted members.
Ron Grabowski, who served as the Association Treasurer for fifteen years or more, died December 5,
2011. Ron assumed the treasurer duties when Reggie Workman was unable to travel from Hawaii to
Wisconsin. More recently, Mike Gosenheimer became the current treasurer.
Ron was a kind and gentle man with a wink in his eye and a hand outstretched to offer assistance.
A professional civil engineer, he also volunteered and trained young hunters in the DNR Hunter Safety
Program. He was precise and accurate and maintained our treasury with skill. One year he even served
as a judge for the Pearl Lake Day boat parade competition.
Judy and Ron were married for forty-four years and have a son, Jeff, daughter in law Kim Isely, and
two grandsons, Alexander and Jackson. They loved their time together at their Four Winds Tree Farm on
Pearl Lake Road. We mourn Ron's passing and extend our sympathy to Judy, Jeff and the family. Ron
was truly a great guy who worked quietly, efficiently and diligently for the Pearl Lake Property Owner's
Association.

Pearl Girls Bake Sale 2012
The Pearl Girls Bake Sale scheduled for the Property Owner Association Meeting, Sept. 1, 2012,
will have a somewhat different look from our previous fund raisers. Once again your
contributions will be purchasing Care Packages for the Troops but with a little something extra.
The organization that packs and organizes the delivery of our packages, “Move America
Forward”, has offered some very special items. This year our care packages will be delivered to
our elite K9 Teams. In addition to the regular gifts of bug repellent, wet wipes, lip balm,
deodorant, coffee, beef jerky, trail mix, Gatorade, a “for the troops” c.d, and other items, These
care packages each include a pair of specially designed dog goggles, a set of four doggie boots,
and a bag of high protein dog treats. As we all know, our troops serving overseas must go to
great lengths to deal with the harsh environment of the Middle East. In the summer the days can
reach a scorching 120 degrees and in the winter the mountains of Afghanistan are covered in
snow and temperatures reach extreme sub zeros. Military dogs have to deal with the same harsh
environment as our soldiers. Dust storms obscure a dog’s visibility and interfere with a dog’s
acute sense of smell, which is critical to their job of finding IEDs and roadside bombs. Without
adequate paw protection the rocky terrain and poorly built roads plague the dogs with injuries
on a daily basis. Thanks to all the dynamite generous people at Pearl Lake the Pearl Girls have
been unbelievably successful in past years and we know that we can do it again with your help.
