INTRODUCTION

• Existence of plants on earth contributes greatly to human life

and environment.
• Water is a vital component to the survival of every plant.
• The plantation rate has been increased due to environmental
awareness.
• Fulfill the water requirement of every plant is impossible due
to water difficiency.
• Growing importance about water shortage have renewed
interest in alternate method of conservation of water.
OBJECTIVES

• To reduce the cost of labor.

• Saving the time is the major purpose of this
project.
• To save the plant from being rotten because of over
irrigation.
LITERATURE SURVEY

• It is seen that, out of total water used for watering purposes,

generally 50% to 70% contributes to waste water.
• It means that out of total water given to plants 50% to 70%
water is either taken by unwanted weeds or get evaporated.
• Hence to improve agricultural technology, use of water in
smart way, reduce human work and increase production.
• So such types of watering systems are beneficial.

THE ARDUINO

• The Arduino is an open-source microcontroller based kit

for building digital devices and interactive objects that can
sense and control objects in the physical world.
• The Arduino board provides sets of digital and analog I/O
pins that can be interfaced to various expansion boards
("shields") and other circuits.
Soil Moisture Sensor Module

• Soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric water

content in soil.
• Soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric water
content indirectly by using some other property of the soil,
such as electrical resistance, dielectric constant, or
interaction with neutrons, as a proxy for the moisture
content.
Motor driver IC L293D

• L293D is a motor driver integrated circuit which can

control a set of two DC motors simultaneously.
• The L293D uses 5V for its own power and external
power source is needed to drive the motors.
Servo Motor

• A servo motor is a rotary actuator that allows for precise

control of angular or linear position, velocity and
acceleration.
• It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for
position feedback.
DC Motor

• A DC motor is any of a class of electrical machines that

converts direct current electrical power into mechanical
power.
• The most common types of DC motors rely on the
forces produced by magnetic fields.
METHODOLOGY

• The device consist of Arduino Uno, Moisture sensor and

relay circuit.
• Moisture sensor is buried in soil in such a way that it sense
the moisture near the roots, sensor send the reading to
Arduino.
• Whenever the moisture in the soil is lower than threshold
value the controller will switch on relay which close the
circuit and motor pump will start.
• Once soil get specified amount of moisture sensor takes the
reading and Arduino switch off relay and circuit get open.
• All the readings are LCD display.
COMPONENTS USED

• Arduino Uno
• Soil moisture sensor module
• Motor driver IC L293D
• Servo motor
• Pump motor
• 12V DC adapter
• Vero board
• Wires and jumper cords.
Advantages

1. Irrigation in garden parks.

2. Works according soil condition.
3. Complete elimination of manpower.
4. System can switched into moved mode whenever required.
5. It would give great boost to electricity conservation.
6. It plays the little role in water management.
Disadvantages
1. This is applicable only for large farms.
2. Initial investment is high.
3. Have limited life after installation, due to weather condition.
Future Scope

• By doing some modifications in this project, we can we it as

wireless.
• To save the power we can couple this system to solar system.
• This watering system can be adjusted and modified
according to changing environment.
CONCLUSION
• The proposed system is very efficient and can be used in
agriculture field very effectively.
Also this agri - rover can be used at remote places where
fuel and power are not available.

• The aim of this project is to bring the technology close to

the reach of farmers in financial a s p e c t , in a very
convenient way.

• The proposed system can remotely operate through any

electronic device like mobile using mobile application.
