4. Differentiate between:
(a) Worksheet and Workbook
Ans: A workbook consists of worksheet. Worksheet is the work area or a page on the screen.
A worksheet consists of rows and columns. If workbook is called as the book, worksheet may be
called as the pages of a book.
(b) Rows and Columns
Ans: The horizontal rectangular boxes are called rows. They are numbered from top to
bottom in ascending order of numbers.
Columns are the vertical set of rectangular boxes that are placed side by side to each other.
Columns are labeled from left to right in alphabetical order.
5. Answer the following questions:-
(a) What is a spreadsheet package? What are its features?
Ans: An electronic spreadsheet is an application package that helps to arrange, keep and
compare data.
Features of a spreadsheet package are:
 Large calculations can be done easily and accurately within a short span of time.
 The data or information can be expressed in pictorial form i.e. charts and graphs.
 The formulae are automatically applied to new data when the value of previous data
changes.
 The data or information can be exported to or imported from other packages.
 Large volume of data can be easily organized and manipulated.
(b) Briefly explain about the components of a worksheet.
Ans: Rows- The horizontal rectangular boxes are called rows. They are numbered from top
to bottom in ascending order of numbers.
Columns - Columns are the vertical set of rectangular boxes that are placed side by side to each
other. Columns are labeled from left to right in alphabetical order.
Tool Bar- The tool bar lies below the menu bar and it contains the shortcut buttons of frequently
used commands.
Formula Bar- The formula bar lies below the tool bar. It displays the formula that is written in
the active cell.
Sheet Tabs- It lies below the active sheet of the screen. The name of the sheet appears in the
sheet tabs.
Horizontal Scroll Bar- It lies below the active worksheet towards the right side of the Sheet
tabs. It helps to view the worksheet width-wise by moving the scroll button from left to right
and vice-versa.
Vertical Scroll Bar- It lies towards the right side of the active worksheet. It helps to view the
worksheet length-wise by moving the scroll button from top to bottom and vice-versa.
Status Bar- It lies at the bottom of the active worksheet. It displays number of sheets, zoom
control etc.
(c) What is a cell and cell address?
Ans: Cell- A rectangular box formed by the intersection of a row and a column is called a cell.

Cell is the basic unit of a worksheet where data are entered. Data may be numbers, text,
formula etc.
Cell Address- Each cell has a unique address which is used to identify its position in the
worksheet. It is identified with the column position followed by the row number, for example
‘A2’ is the combination of ‘Column A’ and ‘Row number 2’.
(d) Briefly explain about the ‘Auto Fill’ feature with an example.
Ans: It is a feature in a spreadsheet package in which a certain kind of predefined series of
data such as series of text or numbers are automatically fed, once the user feeds the initial
data.
6. Write short notes on:
(a) Cell Pointer- The active cell in a worksheet is called as cell pointer. It remains highlighted in the
worksheet.

(b) Ribbon Bar- In Microsoft Office Excel 2010, there is ‘Ribbon Bar’ in place of ‘Menu Bar’ and all tools
are found below the ‘Ribbon Bar’ under different groups.
(c) Name Box- Name Box lies on the left towards upper side of the worksheet. It shows the address
of the current cell or active cell.

7. Using keyboard, write down the action required to execute the following:

(a) To move the cell pointer from any cell to A1 Ctrl + Home

(b) To move the cell pointer to the right of the active cell Tab Key or Right arrow Key

(c) To move the cell pointer to the left of the active cell Shift + Tab or Left arrow Key
8. Find the solution for the given situation in one word/line:-
(a) Sunita wants to align the data towards the right side of the cell. Suggest her how she can do so?
Ans: Align Right
(b) Ashi is entering the details of marks of all students of class subject wise in different sheets of a
workbook. While doing so, she found that the names and roll numbers are repeated in every sheet.
Suggest a feature of spreadsheet that can skip her doing so again and again.
