Call for Applications to join various Courses, 2021/2022 Academic


Year

The Academic Registrar Law Development Centre invites applications for admission to the Bar
Course, 2021/2022 academic year. The courses shall be conducted at our three campuses in
Kampala, Mbarara and Lira through distance, online, and/or physical learning.

1. The Post Graduate Bar Course (to commence on 27th September, 2021 at Kampala, Lira
and Mbarara campuses).
2. Diploma in Law Course
• Day and Evening programmes to commence at Kampala campus on 20th
September, 2021.
• Weekend programme to commence on 18th September, 2021 at Kampala, Lira and
Mbarara campuses.
3. Diploma in Human Rights Course Evening programme to commence on 10th January
2022 at Kampala, Lira and Mbarara campuses.
4. All certificate courses will be conducted in accordance with the earlier issued schedule
available on www.ldc.ac.ug

A: Eligibility for admission to the Bar Course


To be eligible for admission to the Bar Course, the applicant should be:

1. A holder of a degree in law granted by a University in Uganda whose law programme


has been accredited by the Law Council.
i. This applies to Ugandan and non-Ugandan Citizens.
ii. The degree must have been obtained from a university or institution of higher
education duly licensed or chartered under the laws of Uganda and accredited by
the Law Council.
2. A citizen of Uganda who is a holder of a degree in law obtained from a University or
institution in a foreign country operating the common law system and recognized by

the Law Council of Uganda. The applicant must obtain prior clearance in writing from
the Law Council. You should attach on the application form a clearance letter from
Law Council.
Please note:
1. The Bar Course may be conducted online or with a blend of both online and physical
learning in accordance with the guidelines issued by the NCHE and the Rules Governing
the Bar Course.
2. While applicants should indicate their campus of choice, some campuses may be
oversubscribed. An applicant admitted to the Bar Course may be posted to any of the three
campuses (Kampala, Mbarara and Lira Campuses).
3. Current students completing their LLB programme in Uganda should have their names
submitted by respective faculty Deans not later than 10th September, 2021 to confirm
that they have successfully completed the LLB programme. Any applicant whose
faculty/law school does not submit the required confirmation in time shall not be admitted.

B: Eligibility for admission to the Diploma in Law Courses

Applicants for admission to the Diploma in Law and Diploma in Human Rights courses should
have a minimum of ‘O’ level (UCE) with five passes obtained at the same sitting plus a Principal
Pass and two subsidiary passes at ‘A’ Level obtained at the same sitting.

C: How to apply

• Interested applicants MUST apply online via the link: https://admissions.ldc.ac.ug/.


• The link will prompt you to fill in the required information and make payment online
• You will submit the application after payment.
• You should provide all the required information in order to be considered for admission.

D: Deadline for application

• Applications for the Bar Course should be submitted not later than 10th September, 2021
• Applications for the Diploma courses should be submitted not later than 30th August 2021
