SACRAMENT OF HEALING

QUIZ ANSWER :

1. Make a distinction between these terms : Penance, Reconciliation,

and Confession. (15 points)

Answer : The “Penance” is a sacrament where one is confessing their sins through
a priest seeking for forgiveness. This sacrament can’t be done or isn’t effective and
fruitful without the Confession. “Confession” means to reveal your sins or secret to
God. Which the very purpose of the Confession is to seek for forgiveness, without it
you will not be forgiven by God. However, the term “Reconciliation” means when
God forgiven you, now it is your time to reconciled again with God. Reconciliation is
making an agreement or promises with God to not retry your sins to Him.

2. Why is there a need for us to confess our sins to the priest? Explain
your answer. (15 points)

Answer : Because the priest is an “Alter Cristus” or the persona of Jesus is

embodied with the priests. Remember in the Bible, which says, “whatever you bind
on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loosed on earth shall loosed
in heaven”. These words, means that when we confess our sins to the priest, it is
Christ he is talking to through the priest, and therefore it is Christ who is offering
forgiveness. There we can sure that our sins was surely forgiven by God because it
is Christ who are we talking personally through the image of the priest.

journey to heaven.

 Extreme Unction – is a sacrament which offers by priest to the sick patients

through anointing and prayer. It is a sacrament that pertains to the healing of

However, this sacrament may be only offered to those consent patients or to
those who are willing but if not, it is not, the church is free from any
responsibility of letting a Catholic die without the last Sacraments. To do the
sacrament, make sure that the sick room, sick attendants, and most
importantly the anointed one is thoroughly clean. The parts of the body
anointed in Extreme Unction are as follows : the eyes, the ears, the nose, the
lips, the hands and the feet, because these represent our senses of sight,
hearing, smell, taste and touch, which are the means through which we have
committed most of our sins. And when the priest is coming to the anointed
one, make sure that all things are prepared well such as the table must be
covered with a white cloth; a crucifix; two lighted candles in candlesticks; holy
water in a small vessel, with a small piece of palm for a sprinkler; a glass of
clean water; a tablespoon and a napkin or cloth, to be placed under the chin
of the one receiving the Viaticum. Besides these, if Extreme Unction also is to
