Introduction
 “Gardens by the Bay” consists of three distinct waterfront gardens set in the heart of
Singapore's new downtown Marina Bay.

 The total size of Gardens by the Bay is 101 hectares or 177 football fields.

 The Gardens are built on land that was reclaimed from the sea some 30 years ago.

 The Gardens are designed as a series of distinct ecosystems which will enable the gardens
to function with maximum environmental efficiency, and to showcase those world habitats
most at risk from climate change.

 “Gardens by the Bay” is an integral part of a strategy by the Singapore government to

transform Singapore from a "Garden City" to a "City in a Garden". The stated aim is to raise
the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.

 BBG which is NAUE„s in-house design team was involved in the project in close cooperation
with Green Cosmos Marketing Pte Ltd (NAUE‟s local partner in Singapore) with regard to the
design of geogrid reinforced “Green Walls” as retaining structures between the different
levels of the garden adjacent to pedestrian walkways.
