Assignment 2

2020
Summary of the lecture

1. How can you compare the Canadian blended learning model with the
Panamanian´s?
The Canadian blended learning is to provide English language learners with an
engaging learning experience while increasing their language proficiency.
In the case of Panama the balance of the learning day will differ to the pattern of
the physical school but, depending on the age and stage of your child, a blended
approach ensures that maximum learning is achieved through the delivery of a
holistic education. This means the whole child is nurtured and education goes
beyond the traditional model. All areas of the curriculum are covered from maths to
music, history to art, and assemblies to sports.

2. What were the three key learnings you took away from this morning´s
lecture?
The key elements are:
 The graphic of the multiple opportunities to demonstrate learning
 The six levels of the bloom´s taxonomy
 The guidelines of the Ontario Curriculum which it will be good to put in
practice here in Panama

3. What surprised you about the information you learned this morning?
What surprised me was the tips that make that programs different which are:
 Communicative approach applying language in real contexts
 Transition from learning English to learning in English
 Focus on engaging content and higher order thinking skills

4. Would you like to incorporate a blended learning model into your ESL
teaching? Why or why not?
I will incorporate flipped classroom because students spend their time away from
school learning content independently through online video lectures and class time
is then used for “homework.” Or, the classroom itself is redesigned in a way such
that the teacher is no longer the focal point. Teachers no longer spend class time
delivering direct instruction, but use it to guide supervised practice and provide
individual assistance where needed.
