(US) Smurf and Papa Smurf Modification for the Solid

Important information before you begin.

For the body, arms, legs, feet and head you need the base pattern Solid Granny Hexagon
Doll. You can find this pattern on this Facebook Group.

For the Eyes you need Cartoon eyes, 2 a 2,5 cm. Or piece of oval felt and safety eyes 7 or 8
mm.

Use the base pattern to crochet the body and arms.

Before you crochet the legs, crochet first 2 rounds SC in white


Use the base pattern to crochet the legs.

Below you find the modification for the head, the Smurf hat, hands, ears, nose and tail.
Important; crochet first the head and ears. Attach the ears to the head. Handy when you
crochet the Smurf hat and you have to look if it fits.
Place the safety eyes between round 13 and 14

I made the head a little bit bigger.

Head

Follow the base pattern until round 8

Round 8a) *7SC, 2SC in the next stitch* repeat (*-*) (54)
Round 9- 15) 54SC (54)
Round Toer 15a) *7SC, 2SC in the next stitch* repeat (*-*) (48)

Follow the base pattern from here.

Ear 2x

Round 1) 6SC in the magic circle (6)


Round 2) 2SC in every stitch (12)
Round 3) *1SC, 2SC in the next stitch* repeat (*-*) (18)
Round 4) 18SC (18)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing

Sew the ears on the side of the head, 8 stitches from the eyes between round 12 and 15.

Nose

Round 1) 6SC in the magic circle (6)


Round 2) 2SC in every stitch (12)
Round 3-5) 12SC (12)
Round 6) Crochet 2 stitches together, 10SC (11)
Round 7) Crochet 2 stitches together, 7SC, Crochet 2 stitches together (9)

Fill the nose (do not close)

Smurf Hat

Make sure that the tip of the Smurf hat is above the nose.
Continue to crochet so much until you reach the ear.
Now mark the stitch exactly behind both ears, here comes the bottom of the hat.
From here you work in rows.

Row 23) Chain 1 and turn
Row 24) 26SC (or as much you need to crochet from ear to ear), chain 1 and turn
Row 25) 26SC (or as much you need to crochet from ear to ear), chain 1 and turn

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing

Rim around the hat


Hold the tip of the hat towards you. Attach the thread to the first stitch where the back of
the hat starts. Crochet in the front loops only. Crochet SC until you reach the other side of
the back. Chain 1 stitch and turn. Crochet SC back.

Fasten off. If you prefer, you can sew the rim to the hat.

Little tail

Round 1) 6SC in the magic circle (6)


Round 2) 2SC in every stitch (12)
Round 3) *1SC, 2SC in the next stitch* repeat (*-*) (18)
Round 4) 18SC (18)
Round 5) *1SC, crochet 2 stitches together * repeat (*-*) (12)

Fill the tail


Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing

Hand 2x
Round 1) 6SC in the magic circle (6)
Round 2) 2SC in every stitch (12)
Round 3)2SC in next stitch (3 times), 3SC, 2SC in next stitch (3 times), 3SC

Round 4-6) 18SC (18)
Round 7) *4 HDC in one stitch, but do not finish them, you have now 5 loops on your hook.
Finish the stitch.* Repeat one time (*-*), 17SC (18)

Push the HDC a little bit towards yourself. This will be the thumb. (See photos)

Round 8) Crochet 2 stitches together, 17SC (18)


Round 9) *1SC, Crochet 2 stitches together * repeat (*-*) (12)
Round 10) 12SC (12)
Round 11) * Crochet 2 stitches together * repeat (*-*) (6)

Fasten off and leave a long tail

Fold the hand and sew the fingers with the same color.
(I used black so you can see it on the photos)
Fill the hand a little bit. The fingers stay flat.
Beard Papa Smurf

First part of the Beard

Row 1) Chain 30, 1 HDC in 3e stitch from the hook, 4 HDC in the same stitch, 1 HDC, 5 HDC
in the same stitch, 1 HDC, *1 DC, 5 DC in the same stitch* repeat (*-*) Until the last
3 stitches, 1 HDC, 5 HDC DC in the same stitch, 1 HDC, 5 HDC in the last stitch.

Crochet SC back on the other site of the chain.

Fasten off.

Second part of the Beard.


Row 1: Chain 21, 1 DC in 3e stitch from the hook, 17 DC, Chain 1 and turn
Row 2: 18 SC, Chani 3 and turn
Row 3: 4 DC in the frist stitch, *1 SC, 5 DC in the same stitch,* repeatl

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assemble the beard:


Put the second part of the beard (right side up) in the middle under the first part.

Sew the parts on each other.

Assembly

- Place the eyes between round 13 and 14

- Sew the nose under the eyes.


- Embroider a mouth
- Rest is the same as the base pattern.

- For papa Smurf: sew the beard in place.
