How do I program a new Vectra C key?

Written By Lee Gsi converted by Midnite.

Insert a working key and turn ignition on.

Connect the Op-Com and select the car that you are programming the key too.

In my case a 2005 (Full Can-Bus) Vauxhall Signum.

This should be a similar process for other models.

Select 'CIM' and allow it to read the ECU.

Once you have this screen select 'PROGRAMMING'

Click 'LOW SPEED CAN-BUS CONFIGURATION' (I think it’s low but might be MID) and enter
the security code:

The next screen, click 'SECURITY CODE':

Input the code in the pop up box:

Security code, as found on your Vauxhall pass card in the service pack.
Once the code has been entered it will confirm the correct code or not:
Now click 'PROGRAM TRANSPONDER KEYS - NEW' and insert the new key into the ignition
and turn the ignition back on (Not sure if you could have just inserted the new key at the
beginning or not). Now click 'YES'

The remote locking also worked just from doing this.

First time it failed to program but I am not sure if was because I took too long as I was doing
screen grabs but then it programmed ok and I now have a new working spare key.
A note from Valer.

The "program transponder key old" is for situations where all 5 positions are full but you only
have 1 good key and need to add another
You need to enter immobilizer and select "erase all tp keys"
After that you can then add new keys & existing old keys up to the maximum of 5.
You can't use keys from another car as they are matched to their own transponder and can't
be reused.

The information provided above by Valer is the method I would generally be expected to
employ on Ford vehicles and would expect the Vauxhall Dealer to follow.
As a rule within the dealerships it is PRACTICE to delete all known keys when adding a new
key in case of loss or theft as just adding a key will leave any lost or missing keys fully
functional on the vehicle in question.

I have cleaned it up slightly and converted it for PDF format for easy downloading by other
members.
There is another perfectly good guide on the forum under the how 2 section.
It contains useful information on getting and cutting your new key as well as programming it.
It is called programming a new key into a Zafira (Z16XE).
Using both guides should see most users able to create their own keys with success, having
spent many years in the Ford main dealer environment I feel the programming method
described by Lee to be the better one.
I would advise against inserting un-programmed keys into the ignition of any modern vehicle
if only for the fact that you will increase the work required due to the fault codes that will
undoubtedly be created.

Midnite.
