Fraternal Organization of Eagles Trustee vs Aerie / Auxiliary Roles
Board of Trustees:
 Operate the social room/buffet at a
profit under the direction of the
Aerie
◦ Manage employees (except
secretary and their assistant if in
place)
◦ Approve bills / contracts for
operations of the social room /
buffet
◦ Turn over profits of the social
room / buffet to the Aerie
treasury
 Enforce House Rules adopted by the
Aerie fairly and consistently to all
members
 Hold weekly meetings and report to
the Aerie at least monthly
 Ensure the Aerie / Auxiliary
maintains adequate insurance
coverage & bonding
 Hold all real property in trust for the
Aerie under the direction of the
Aerie
◦ Maintain records for all property
held in trust for the Aerie
◦ Voice objection to disbursements
that conflict with the interest of
the Aerie and appeal to overrule
approval of such an expenditure
to the Grand Aerie
Aerie / Auxiliary Board:
 Operate the Aerie and Auxiliary
through meetings twice monthly
with vote of the majority of
members present expressing the will
of the membership
 Encourage, approve and initiate new
members into the Aerie and
Auxiliary
 Form committees to facilitate
operations of the Aerie and
Auxiliary:
◦ By-laws, House Rules (Aerie),
Finance
◦ Visiting, Entertainment, Publicity
◦ Membership, Security (Aerie),
Attendance, Interviewing, and
Trial (Aerie) / Conciliation (Aux)
◦ Approve Internal Units (Eagle
Riders, Junior Order of Eagles,
etc) (Aerie)
 Adopts By-laws (Aerie and Aux)
and House Rules (Aerie) that all
members are required to follow
◦ Set dues and approve prices
◦ Set requirements of officers
 Manage funds of the Aerie /
Auxiliary
◦ Collect Dues, Receipts, &
Deposits from members and
Trustees
◦ Purchase assets and make
expenditures
◦ Purchase insurance and bond
officers
◦ Fund licenses and permits
 Maintain records of meetings, dues,
votes, expenditures, and deposits
