He’s Coming – Part 1

The future. It’s always been a subject of intense interest and speculation among the curious
and the obsessed. Ancient civilizations charted the stars and built their temples to discover what
the future held, and modern culture is looking back, wondering if what the ancients had to say
will truly come to pass.

We’ve all heard of the Mayan prophecy of a 2012 doomsday, and we’re familiar with names like
Edgar Cayce and Nostradamus. Moreover, we know that the Bible has much to say about the
future and is laden with prophecies regarding the end of days.

And in case you haven’t noticed, our current climate is full of fear and uncertainly, and people
are taking a second look at what the ancients had to say, wondering if the end really is at hand.

People are worried about where the world is headed, and this worry is having a tremendous
impact on society in many respects, including (and probably foremost) the economy.

For example, let’s talk about gas prices. Oh, boy, I hit a sore spot there, right? We’ve all noticed
the price of gas skyrocket in the last couple of months. Do you know why?

Short supply? No, supplies are still strong. Weakened refinery or deliver capabilities? No, there
aren’t any problems there to speak of.

Well, if the supply is still strong and the refining and delivery services are still good, what’s
driving the tremendous inflation in energy prices?

The future, that’s what!

A futures contract is a type of derivative instrument, or financial contract, in which two parties
agree to transact a set of financial instruments or physical commodities for future delivery at a
particular price. If you buy a futures contract, you are basically agreeing to buy something that a
seller has not yet produced for a set price. But participating in the futures market does not
necessarily mean that you will be responsible for receiving or delivering large inventories of
physical commodities - remember, buyers and sellers in the futures market primarily enter into
futures contracts to hedge risk or speculate rather than to exchange physical goods (which is
the primary activity of the cash/spot market). That is why futures are used as financial
instruments by not only producers and consumers but also speculators.

The futures market is a centralized marketplace for buyers and sellers from around the world
who meet and enter into futures contracts. Pricing can be based on an open cry system, or bids
and offers can be matched electronically. The futures contract will state the price that will be
paid and the date of delivery. But don't worry, as we mentioned earlier, almost all futures
contracts end without the actual physical delivery of the commodity.

In this journey through this chapter so far, we’ve answered two very important questions… “Who
is Jesus?” And “What has Jesus done?” And now we come to, perhaps the most important
question of all, which is, “What is Jesus going to do?”

Would you please stand with me for the reading of God’s sacred Word? Revelation 1:1-8…
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things
which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that
he saw.
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things
which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which
is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the
prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own
blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and
dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him:
and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the
Almighty.”

Matthew 24:30 - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all
the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven
with power and great glory.

Matthew 26:64 - Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter
shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of
heaven.

In Ancient Prophecy –
Daniel 7:13-14 – “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the
clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And
there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and
languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass
away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Revelation 14:13-16 - “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the
dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their
labours; and their works do follow them. And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the
cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a
sharp sickle.

And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud,
Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is
ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
