Movie Review for “Catch me if you Can”

Catch Me If You Can is based off on a true story of how Frank Abagnale Jr (played by Leonardo
Dicaprio), one of the most famous con-artists in history, faked over eight identities, several
professions, and cashed over $2.5 million of forged checks in the 1960s, until the police finally
caught him at age 21.

It was a story of a young man who, when his parents’ marriage, family life and father’s
successful business broke apart at age 16, ran away from home, deciding to venture out on his
own. For the next five years, he lived a life most people wouldn’t even dare dreaming of,
pretending to be an airline pilot, flying all around the world, claiming to be a doctor, a lawyer
and a professor.

It was also a story of how the police was able to trace, chase and finally arrested the con-artist. It
was a product of high-end investigative skills, questioned document skill and a story of how
police investigations should be done.

I can say that this movie, catch me if you can, is one of the most interesting, thrilling and well-
executed movies I have ever watched. It was funny, entertaining yet informative especially for
those who are in the field of criminology or in the uniformed personnel. It has encouraged me to
think outside the box, to be more speculative and be more observant to small details when it
comes to observations and investigations.
