SECTION 2. MYSELF

BEING A GEN Z: The Changes I have to face

A. Physical/Physiological changes
- From my early puberty during my junior high school years, there were many changes that I have noticed
that changed within and outside my body. My body started to develop the so-called “Adam’s Apple”. My
voice changed, sometimes I felt awkward about it. I’m beginning to have pubic hairs on my private areas, and
even on my legs.
B. Cognitive/Intellectual changes
- As years passed by, I became more responsible. I’m thinking more mature now, than before. My parents
don’t need to remind me always of what I have to do. I’m doing my household chores responsibly. In my
studies, I’m really doing my best in studying and answering my home works.
C. Moral/Spiritual changes

-These years, I became more pious than before, I pray before I sleep and even make a sign of the cross before
taking my first splash of shower—I believe that God can help me through everything that I’ll be growing
through; I also felt much closer and had a much stronger relationship with God as I’ve grown.
D. Emotional changes
-I became more moody at times—the littlest things could irritate me as stress continues to pile up every day,
especially I’m near my adulthood; the thoughts of the responsibilities that I have to fill up to, makes my
stress much and much bigger.
E. Social change
-I became more choosy of my group of friends that are just like me—people who are fully dedicated to their
education and dreams. I also don’t tend to go outside our house, I prefer to stay inside my room all day
long—I drown myself in my studies so that I can make my parents proud.

SECTION 3. I

BEING A CITIZEN: The Roles I have to take

A. Responsibilities towards oneself

o How do you take care of yourself?
- I make sure that what I’m taking in are nutritious foods that would nourish my body. I regularly
taking a bath and keep myself always clean. And of course, I’m taking vitamins as supplements.
o How can taking care of yourself now be important to your future?

-It is very important that I will take care of myself because good health will bring me to a better and
brighter future. By doing so, I will have a better time in studying and refrain myself from absences
because I won’t get sick always.
o Why is it important to think about your career goals now?
-So that, once I become an adult, I will be sure of the goals that I would like to achieve. To be able to
prepare for it and think of plans on how to reach it—an example would be reading articles about how
to become a great civil engineer or watch videos in YouTube. It’s important to think of my career
goals now so that my life would be organized and I would not have to stress myself once the time
comes.

B. Responsibilities as a family member

o What are some ways you can show responsibility at home?
-As the eldest, I make sure that first, I’ll finish all my schoolworks to be a good role model to my
siblings—I teach them to do chores so that they can help me in completing the chores in the house.
By doing my share of household chores. And being the eldest, whenever my parents are at work, I
would take care of my younger siblings.
o What can you do to improve your family relationships?
-Always see to it that we have a quality time to be spent together with my parents and siblings—I
make sure that somehow, we’ll be able to spend time together. Even if it means just watching
movies with them together, eating together or doing chores together—even the littlest things count.

C. Responsibilities in the community

o What are some ways to participate in your barangay?

-By participating in the clean-up operations of our barangay being done every December of every
year and by following the rules and regulations as a citizen that’s part of the community and help
promote a healthy environment for everyone to grow up in.
o How can you help the barangay in dealing with current social issues (e.g. teenage pregnancy,
bullying) and calamities (disaster prevention)?
-By offering my time as a volunteer in times of calamities—donating goods and services. And in
prevention, I would gladly share my knowledge during meetings as a means of information
dissemination—to use my knowledge and put it to action. I’ll make sure to make my voice be heard,
to stand up for what’s right and do my best to stop foul actions such as bullying.
