1. What is curriculum?

Ans: According to Indiana Department of Education, Curriculum means the planned interaction of pupils with instructional content, materials,
resources, and processes for evaluating the attainment of educational objectives
- Curriculum refers to a written plan outlining what students will be taught (a course of study).
Curriculum may refer to all the courses offered at a given school, or all the courses offered at a school in a particular area of study. (by J.L.
McBriens & R. Brandt).
According to John Dewey, Curriculum is a continuous reconstruction, moving from the child's present experience out into that represented by
the organized bodies of truth that we call studies...the various studies..are themselves experience-they are that of the race.
- Curriculum is an emphasis on what students can do with knowlegde, rather than what units of knowlegde they have. (by E.Silva)
According to Stotsky (2012), Curriculum is a plan of action that is aimed at achieving desired goals and objectives.

2. Syllabus
3. Content Outline
4. Standards
5. Textbooks
6. Course of Study
7. Planned Experiences

3. What are the different levels of curriculum? Describe each level.


Ans: 1. Intended Curriculum/System Level - are the planned objectives, goals and purposes set at the beginning.
2. Implemented Level / Classroom Level - what the teachers do in classrooms.
3. Attained Level / Students Level - Demonstration of learning outcomes by students.

4. What is curriculum development? what are the different stages of curriculum development?
Ans: Curriculum Development is the organized preparation of whatever is going to be taught in schools at a given time in a given year.
and also a process of selecting, organizing, executing, and evaluating the learning experiences on the basis of the needs, abilities,
and interest of learners
and on the basis of the nature of the society or community.
The different stages of curriculum are: Goals and Objectives, Content, Learning Experiences, and Evaluation.

5. Why should schools need a curriculum?


Ans. Logically speaking schools can't stand alone without curriculum, it must both.
It both creates and reflects culture and identity. It keeps up with a changing world.
Schools need a curriculum because curriculum standardizes the learning goals for an entire school.

6. Make reflection why you need to understand curriculum development as a teacher?


Ans:It is necessary for teachers to understand curriculum development because it is a usable tool to assists teachers in the
development of individualized strategies and the methods and materials necessary for them to be successful.
