Save the Children has been working in Sri Lanka since 1974.

Our work is based on the UN Convention in the Rights of the Child. In Sri Lanka our work is
focused on Education, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Health and Nutrition, Livelihoods and Humanitarian. We carry out community-based
projects, school-based projects, working with many duty bearers including government stakeholders, civil societies and non-governmental communities to
partake in fulfilling and/or to contribute towards recognizing and respecting the rights of children.
Save the Children will carry out the Improving Children’s Literacy in Sri Lanka program over a period of three years in 175 schools, across the three
districts of Galle, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu in Sri Lanka.

PROJECT ASSISTANT - EDUCATION, LITERACY BOOST PROGRAMMING


COLOMBO (01 POSITION)
The role holder will support the implementation and coordination of Literacy Boost Education Project while contributing to achieve project targets in
designated district through implementing the activities as per the project activity plan.

Key Areas of Accountability

Support the project team by:


 Supporting all Literacy Boost (LB) activities, technical trainings and related work.
 Support organization of workshops and related material.
 Technical inputs and support on Literacy activities.
 Regular school visits for implementation of quality literacy boost programme.
 Maintain and be responsible for administrative functions related to the project.

Representation at provincial level:


 Support to maintain and improve active and regular working relationships with other organizations who are linked to Education Programme.

Support implementing MEAL Systems and Approaches:


 Support quality literacy assessments, and development of district Detailed Implementation Plans.
 Support the Deputy Manager, Education and Literacy Boost Programme in effective documentation of data on improved literacy outcomes, overall
program successes, innovations and promising practices related to improved literacy and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.
 Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality data.
 Document and communicate developments in the project sites to the Senior Education Manager for the purpose of learning, knowledge management,
sharing experiences and education sector program development in Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Skills

 Degree in education, research, sociology or related field.


 Experience in similar position for not less than 2 years.
 Good communication skills
 Sound knowledge in MS office packages
 Good planning and organizing skills
 Good Tamil speaking, writing and typing skills
 Willingness to travel to field locations as required.
