JARC Appoints Joshua Tobias as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors
Effective June 3, 2021

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (June 3, 2021) – JARC, a metro Detroit based non-profit agency that
serves individuals with developmental disabilities, has announced the appointment of Joshua Tobias as
the new President and Chairman of the Board of Directors effective June 3, 2021, and will serve in this
position for a 2-year term. Tobias has served on JARC’s Board of Directors for 10 years, including a three-
year term as Vice President and a one-year term as President-Elect. Tobias’s plans for JARC’s future
include ensuring support for the work of the current professional JARC team and enhancing the Board of
Director’s involvement in the financial growth of the organization. The non-profit currently serves 156
individuals in over 80 locations and has over the last few months has helped to vaccinate nearly 3,000
metro Detroit individuals, many of whom have disabilities, through over a dozen community vaccination

President and Chairman of the Board of Directors at JARC. “I’ve watched what a fantastic job the staff
has done to move the organization in the right direction, even through a pandemic, and I am continually
impressed with the team’s efforts in helping not only our own persons served, but the community
around them as well.”

Since his nomination to JARC’s Board of Directors in 2010, Tobias has been proactive in his efforts to
support the non-profit. Most notably, his efforts in recruiting event sponsorship for JARC’s 50 th
Anniversary event in 2019 featuring Earth, Wind, and Fire, which became the most financially successful
fundraiser in JARC’s history.

Tobias obtained his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Eastern Michigan University in 1996. He went
on to work in the mortgage business for 10 years before accepting his current position as Funeral
Director at the Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield, Mich. in 2009. Tobias also serves on the finance
committee for Frankel Jewish Academy and on the Board of Trustees at Temple Israel, both located in
West Bloomfield, Michigan. He currently resides in Farmington Hills, Michigan with his wife Alyssa
Tobias and two children.
