B. REASON

This Service Bulletin provides instructions to deactivate the erase function of the Cockpit
Voice Recorder (CVR) by modifying the wiring at level of CVR control unit.

COMPLIANCE: Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is optional.

C. DESCRIPTION

Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin consists in carrying out the following jobs:

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A. GENERAL

The following instructions assume that work will be accomplished when the aircraft is in
the appropriate maintenance configuration.

B. JOB SET-UP

(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical network and connect the aircraft to ground as per
MP ATR-A-24-4X-XX-00ZZZ-561Z-A.

(2) In flight compartment, remove lining panel 212CC as per

MP ATR-A-25-13-10-01ZZZ-520Z-A.

C. MODIFICATION

(1) Wiring modification

NOTE: At each wire installation, the following instructions must be observed:

Cut the wires to the necessary length, crimp the terminals and connect
accordingly.
Perform continuity test of the new wiring.
Attach with cable ties as per MP chapter 20-21-21.

As per wiring diagram Figure 1

(a) Modify wires according to wiring diagram.

For details refer to hook-up chart Figure 2.

D. TESTS

(1) Perform operational test of the CVR as per MP ATR-A-23-71-XX-00ZZZ-320Z-A.

(2) Re-energize the aircraft electrical network and disconnect the aircraft from ground as
per MP ATR-A-24-4X-XX-00ZZZ-761Z-A.

(3) Check the inhibition of the "ERASE" function:

(a) On the mechanical center pedestal, on panel 902VU:

- Put the parking brake in the PARKING position.

NOTE: Do not take into account warnings other than those relative to the
system.

(b) On the overhead panel, on the CVR control unit:

- Connect the headset.

- Push and hold the ERASE pushbutton for five seconds.

- Make sure that the erasure is not in progress (no aural signal is heard in the
headset).

- Disconnect the headset.

E. CLOSE-UP

(1) In flight compartment, re-install lining panel 212CC as per

MP ATR-A-25-13-10-01ZZZ-720Z-A.
