F. Course Description
This course aims at promoting students to communicate with confidence, so they can
express themselves accurately, fluently and appropriately using authentic resources of
target language in real-life English settings. Most of the class activities are discussions
and speaking performance. However, the course integrates the four skills – listening,
speaking, reading and writing – through extra activities available in the students’
workbook. In the beginner level, as English basic users, students are expected to be
able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed
at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type, such as introducing themselves and others,
asking and answering or interacting in a simple way provided the other person talks
slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. There are four main topics covered, i.e. my
home town, shopping, food, and past and future. Every lesson states the learning
objectives, so by the end of the lesson, students are expected to practice and perform
speaking inside and outside classroom.
