My Mother the Car – Come Honk Your Horn

2) Write an essay describing the plot and basis of the show and
what you like about it.

My Mother the Car”, which is an American TV series, was

made in 1965. That is a comedy show with a black-and-white
pilot, which was later re-filmed in colour. When we watch it,
we can receive many happy, flawless and energetic feel. The
film is that the story of the relationship between a man and his
mother, the latter having being lived again by a 1928 Porter
automobile. His mother showed him the way to drive a car and
sometimes drove by herself.

I like the way they talked together. It was really funny when he
saw his mother’s voice for the first time. They communicated
like a friend, a person could share stories and emotions in life.
Especially, at that time, the man acknowledged his wife about
his mother. It touched the hearts of viewers by the man’s
hesitant answer to his wife. This show makes people detail-
oriented from the first time they watch.

For me, this show is really impassioned and impeccable when I

watched it.

3) Include your perspective of the characters in the show

In my point of view, Dave Crabtree (Jerry Van Dyke), who
discovers his mother’s voice in the old car, is a hapless sitcom
family man. He got into many situations with his family,
neighbours as well as police. There was also an obsessed
automobile collector to complete his collection. By this time, he
knew “1928 Porter”, which car had his mother’s voice, made for
normal driving shots.

Besides, his mother was acted by Ann Sothern. Although she did
not show up, she also gave many interesting speeches to her son
like giving suggestions to control cars and life.

Moreover, Barbara Crabtree (Maggie Pierce) was his wife, who

had control of Dave, always had problems with her husband. In
my point of view, in this family, she seemed like a breadwinner
because the man was scared her when talking. And, the captain
brought some issues to him, but it was funny.
