members, this annual Wyo-

It’s a chance for youth to show-
case their knowledge on a vari-
ety of topics, especially animals.
Having practiced for months,
members of the 4-H youth pro-
gram – Route 39 Wranglers in
Arcade – are ready for their up-
coming show.
Second generation 4-H’er,
Hannah Holmes, 13, of East
Concord, has been involved in
the 4-H program for nine years.
Her mother, Jill Holmes, also
of East Concord, is a former
4-H member, herself. Jill was a
member of the Arcade Voyag-
ers, in Arcade, for many years.

New cattle barn to debut at Wyoming County Fair

By KORI SCIANDRA
ksciandra@batavianews.com
While the COVID-19 pan-
demic may have canceled
the Wyoming County Fair
in 2020, the fair’s associates
were plenty busy.
When the Wyoming Coun-
ty Fair returns Aug. 14 to 21
at the Wyoming County Fair-
grounds, 70 Main St., Pike,
visitors will be able to see the
Fair’s new cattle barn.
Construction on the barn
went on through the pan-
demic.
Significant fundraising
efforts allowed the barn,
called the Volunteers Ar-
ea, to be constructed. It will
house dairy cattle, beef cat-
tle, and goats. The new show
arena will have a new set of
bleachers for patrons and
serve as the location of the
Fair Queen competition, the
Fair’s talent show, and other
activities.
The new barn has been
constructed in the same lo-
cation as the old barn.
The fair’s old cattle barn
was built in 1977 and demol-
ished in August 2019, follow-
ing the conclusion of the fair. WYOMING COUNTY FAIR PHOTOGRAPH VIA FACEBOOK
