Letter of commitment to include gender

mainstreaming agenda

Our company believes in creating equal opportunities for women and men by allowing them
to contribute on an even footing economically, politically, socially and culturally. This means
that equal value is placed on the different roles played by women and men in our company and
that gender is not a factor preventing anyone from reaching their full potential. We believe that
Gender mainstreaming is a key strategy to achieving gender equality. It involves looking at the
experience and interests of women and men in the development process, and re-imagining these
realities in ways that challenge existing social structures and place women and men on an even
footing. We think that gender mainstreaming goes beyond counting the number of women and
men in a room and thus is not simply about achieving a gender balance. To that effect to show
our commitment to the values of Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women here are
some of the objectives that we will partake:
 Acknowledge values & principles of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
 Participate in dialogue with UN to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment
in their location, industry and organization.
 Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.
 Treat women and men fairly at work and respect and support human rights and
nondiscrimination.
 Ensure health, safety and wellbeing of all women and men workers.
 Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.
