EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This paper generally aimed to explore additional possibilities of value

adding using the cacao pod husk flour (CPHF) as a raw material for product
development. Initially, the main aim of this study was to incorporate the cacao pod
husk flour in the polvoron formulation in order to develop high fiber polvoron. Aside
from that, this research was purposely conducted to investigate and evaluate the
physical properties of high fiber polvoron made from all-purpose flour and cacao
pod husk flour (CPHF) and its acceptability to end consumers.

As for its long-range objective, the project aimed to develop and offer
healthier food products through utilization of cacao pod husk flour turning it from
waste into usable resource. The study ascertained the product’s feasibility based
on marketing, technical, organizational management and financial aspects. Aside
from technical and financial viability, the study took into account its possible
contribution to numerous socio-economic entities.
