Task: Below are some of various instructional materials that a language teacher can
utilize in his or her classroom. Identify key features/qualities to each given material
which make them effective materials in teaching language.

Textbook
a. Textbooks provide a skeleton or a structure of a syllabus to a certain program.
b. Content of textbook can include effective language models and input.
c. Standardized instruction
Software Tool
a. Through the use of Audio-Visual aids and Computer software, students can easily
recognize the sounds of English.
b. Language learning software provides teachers with a number of methods for
evaluating students’ performance and tracking their progress.
c. Through Web-based activities, learners can stimulate their language skills.
CDs/DVDs
a. Helps develop hand-eye coordination of a learner;
b. Perception skills of the learner; and
c. provides all support of all development areas and independent learning
Electronic Devices
a. Use of mobile phone in language learning is motivating and stimulating for
learners.
b. Promote interactivity and collaboration within learning
c. Laptops and tablets can help teachers manage courses and evaluate students’
performance.
