Rapid development of the city is harmful.

In year 2018, it is stated that 1.6 % population were migrants from rural area to city compare
to 2.0 per cent in year 2016. In fact, this migration took place due to new jobs, new
development, education and so on. Without we realizing, this rapid development of city is
becoming detrimental to the society. There are a few reasons namely, air pollution, flash
flood and rise in crime rate.

First and foremost, rapid development of the city is harmful because it can cause air
pollution. Generally, in the urban area, many people use their own vehicles to travel. The
usage of many cars likely to cause air pollution because the fumes from the car is being
released to the environment. The carbon monoxide in the smoke causes health problem such
as difficulties breathing, asthma and so on. Therefore, rapid development in city is very
harmful because it can cause air pollution.

Secondly, flash flood is another factor why rapid development in city is harmful. Unplanned
development and poor drainage are the reasons for flash floods in urban area as the water
cannot go through the drain because it is too narrowed. Thus, this affects the people in the
city. For example, during heavy rain, the water will pour out from the drain and causes the
flash flood in the area. Thus, the unplanned development will cause the flash flood in urban
area.

Last but not least, rapid development of the city is harmful because it can cause many crimes.
The main reason for this is, in urban areas, many people tend to migrate to cities for jobs and
when there is no more job to occupy, they will more likely find ways to sustain their lives in
city. Henceforth, out of desperation they steal, rob or even kidnap.

On the contrary, some may argue that city development is rather prominent for a country’s
economy yet, other factors are overlooked such as the adverse effects it leaves on the society
and environment. So, overall quick development in a city causes damage in a long run.

In conclusion, there are many causes why rapid development is harmful in city. Therefore,
the related authority and government should put in action an effective plan to make sure
development in cities is not detrimental.
